Great run out today. The weather held, mostly, so it all got a bit sweaty.
Good miles in the legs, and good to be out in good company.

Yes  I would like to add I learned some new hand signals from Alan.....haha
Not sure they were cycling ones though however very useful for intimidating other road users 😄

    Linda,
The Sewing Bee was the under the radar name given to a Tuesday evening ride for non TTers. It was generally considered bad form to post up a ride which clashed with a club confined event, so the ride was publicised as a sewing bee. Very underhand and sneaky, but a lawyer was involved - ‘nuff  said! The name kind of stuck, with the route used now going by the same name.
Charlie’s suggestion was along the lines of “More ........ hills” but included bad words that I’d never heard before and caused me to blush.  In those days I was a good bit fitter on a bike and a smidge lighter than I am currently. Perhaps one evening I’ll get to give M’Lud a doing again. Won’t be this year however.

Now now Linda men also sew. A few years ago a few of us started a midweek bunch via Stewarton. It involved hills so gave the lighter riders the chance to show off their cycling prowess. As for the rest of us it was and is a lung buster. Mark Oneill christened the route “The Sewing bee “ so I will let him tell us why but I think it was an antidote to my suggestions for naming the route which were not so sedate

Lovely run today to Dryman with David Morna and Linda. Even the guy that owns the cafe at Dryman was quite pleasant for a change.

Hi this is a great idea especially the maintenance side which I have no clue.  For example phone a friend for a flat tyre haha.  I will definately be joining in when I can make it.   If people see more woman riding in a bunch it may encourage them.  I have certainly loved going out with Mia and the other girls  great fun.

It's the traditional start of the season for cycling clubs - the distance increases each week so a chance to build fitness and also see how your bike is performing.
It's lost a bit of that these days as a lot of people will train over the winter and also have winter bikes and bring out their summer one when the clocks change but in the past it was about making sure bikes and bodies were in good condition for the better weather to come.

Hip hip hooray I am finally on the website.  A very welcoming club so I need to say a huge thank you to Carole, Graeme , Gerrard, Jane and Alan for taking me under their wing.  Also the boys last Sunday who looked after me when I decided to fly instead of pedal..I am very grateful thank you.  Apologies to Charlie he had to put up with the girls chat about our designer heels on Sunday instead of bike chat.  At rugby this Sunday with my beautiful boys have a fantastic day tomorrow.  L
