Good to be back at track. Cedric in the top 2 or 3 in the A's, Jan toughing it out in the B's and me, Sam and Stevie in the C's. Definetly more fun to be had in C's !, in the first points race I got 7 points but not sure where that got me overall, in the scratch me and Stevie got a 1-2 in a close sprint with 3 of us within a wheel across the line, Stevie departed before the final tempo race in which Sam got an early point and I got a late one which would put us top 4 or 5.
Stevie - for info Sam and I are entering the B's next week if you want to join the gang

Most unfortunate night for Sam who cracked front fork pre event, then Stevie discovered at sign on he had not entered. Leaving Cedric in A's, Jan in B's and me in C and millions of jets in various groups.
Cedric lighting up the A's as per, winning the elimination, Jan toughing out the B's again and getting in the action in the tempo, I was mediocre all night until the devil where I got a 2nd. When down to last 3 it was inspiring, a boy and girl with combined age of about 30 and me - this cycling can actually keep you young. At least it was a jet who won the race

    Yes!
At world cup and champ level in the omnium it is pretty dull but at track league level its great seeing riders taking it in turns to blow up spectacularly

Mixed night for Wheelers tonight - Sam was looking strong but had a crash, looked a sore one. Managed to dust himself off and do another race afterwards (including a big solo attack from the gun)  so chapeau. Cedric doing well in the A’s with victory in the points race and placing top 5 in the others too. As for me not been feeling great but had stopped coughing so thought  i may as well give it a go. Didnt do much apart from follow in the first 3 races but in the last race had started to feel a bit better and managed a 3rd in the devil which is my first points of the season. Just pleased i wont now be finishing on zero!

Lot of fun to be had in the C's indeed.
In the A's, Cedric bossed the elimination as usual. Chapeau sir.
Stevie, Sam and I in the C's, always difficult predict form and Stevie was not in his usual top 3 slots tonight. Sam and I made up for it, that's the benefit of the team , only race we didn't really feature was the points.
    Tempo, 1st Sam, 3rd me
    Scratch, 2nd me, 3rd Sam
Points, 6 me (outside chance of top 5), Stevie 2 and Sam 1 I think
    Elimination, 1st Sam, 2nd me

Aye a blast.... If Cedric had been riding decent tyres he would have had a real good result, absolutely no fear on the drop-offs even with poor tyres.

A great day out in Callendar, counted 6 wheelers and numerous Jets(Jet Jamie took 2nd place??) very techincal course  with lots of mud and off camber. Big Kudos to John for his first cross race on the wrong tyres/shoes and never having watched a cross race... true wheelers preparation  Cedric also made a return to cross and started of really strong in the top 10 in the first lap but as the course degraded his tyres grip let him down and he struggled to stay upright at his pace, a bike change at the last few laps saw him return to form and take back a stack of places, I predict great things from Zed!  Good to see Sam riding the Seniors as well. In the V40 Davie B looked real good and never saw him all race, Dave W passed me a few laps in and never saw him again as I suffered from Berlin Belly(a real disease).... worst result for me since I started cross but had a blast and managed to stay mostly upright. I might have to start riding my bike in between races  Top day with a lot of laughs

I did have a blast Davie, thanks!
My race report for the v40 is, well, I came last!
It was great to be part of the event though. It was a bit different to the SCX races being a full on UCI event. It was cool to rub shoulders with some top riders and chat to people I wouldn’t normal come into contact with in the Scottish series. The full field was gridded at the start. For some reason I got gridded ahead of a few people, so I didn’t feel too out of place at least! With a fully organised grid starting on tarmac, and with a lot of experienced riders, it meant the start was stress free – but really fast. I held on to a larger group at the back for about half a lap and then I was on my own. Lots of shouts for ‘Johnstone’ really helped. I managed to get round, figured out how to ride through the difficult second sand pit, and manage not to throw up once I’d crossed the line. Awesome way to end my cross (very short) season.

Well done Cedric , fantastic ride!

great day on sunday, four jets in u14 and u16. Cedric had a great race in the elites , 26th, one behind Gary McDonald and ahead of David Lines, to be fifth Scottish based rider (I think). Certainly seemed fast on his tyres.
    Chapeau

cracking afternoon for Cedric today - i think it was couple of firsts plus also a third and probably a top 5 (maybe top 3). As for me nothing results wise but at least found it a bit easier than the last time i was racing so a bit of progress.

A month to get fit and find your track legs. I dont think entry is open yet couple of things still to be finalised
Not totally confirmed but based on feedback from the rider survey the programme will be changing slightly. C and D groups as before with 4 races, A and B moving to 3 races but longer. Scraping the devil to add the laps to a points and scratch.
Will be sad to see the devil go as it was my most successful race last season but on the other hand longer points race should be good!

Great to see McTavish pick up a prize and, in his own subtle way,  raise our sponsors profile by wearing a tablecloth from Amaretto.

Fun night.  First was a 40 lap points, group of 4 of us had small gap and i won the 2nd sprint and continued riding thinking the others were going to do the same. They sat up though. Decided to push on and got about half a lap but then the bunch started chasing and it came back together a lap before the next sprint and i couldnt respond. Recovered a bit for the final one got a 4th in that i think and 4th overall. Next was scratch. Few attempts to get a break going but nothing stuck but still thinned the field. About midway through i somehow got dazzled (maybe a camera flash or looking at the light) and was seeing stars in my left eye...not good! However despite that should eally should have done better in the final sprint was 2nd wheel with 3 to go  to go but waited too long and ended up getting boxed in and not really able to sprint ended up 5th or 6th. Devil...felt comfortable but made a mistake when it was down to 6 riders, i thought it was 8 left and i was trying to work myself out of a box thinking there were a couple of riders still behind me. There wasnt! My worst result in the elimination all winter i think.
Anyway was an enjoyable season, 19 race evenings with 1 cancelled for snow.  Had intended to do less this year but it gets addictive and im a lost cause

Another lovely day out in glorious sunshine. The lumpy Largs v 2.0 seems to have been a success, although the group did get smaller as the day wore on.  For  those that finished, a well-earned cold one at Amaretto was the icing on the cake. Thanks to all.

No sweating, as the gentlemen of the main bunch allowed me to sit in all day. Took the occasional foray to the front when there was a chance of casual spectators but made sure only to glass crank it while there.
Fabulous day out, the Moretti tasted just fine back at the sponsors hoose.
