A few (stupid) questions from a first time racer...

Is anybody planning on riding over to fenwick?
If driving, are you wearing your race kit there or do you get changed into/out of gear there?
Is anyone planning on hanging around after race 1 to watch race 2?
If so will there be food & drink available?

I'm sure I'll think of some more later... I'm a worrier

The British Cycling website can be a bit difficult to navigate so i've made up a list of some road races and criteriums that might be of interest along with some details.

I'll try and update this first post as more races open for entry, as the courses gets published etc. It is mainly local ones although some of the WOSCA races have still to be added to the BC website. The ones further afield like in Stirling, Edinburgh or Dunfermline I've included mainly because i intend to do them!

We did this event as a "club run" 2 years in a row when it first started in 2006 & then in 2007. It's a fantastic route!

The Bealach climb it self is the closest thing to be an Alpine climb can be in the UK, with long constant upward gradient and stunning view (if weather was decent) looking towards Skye. But be warn, the part between Applecross & Shieldaig is hard (if not harder) too especially if its windy (which I assume always is).

However, this is a great ride and I would love to ride it again if I had the chance!

    Enjoy, chaps!

It seems every group went a different way, avoiding various ice and roadwork risks.

Thanks to those who provided supplies for the club room afterwards, and particularly to Susan for the soup!

Firstly, welcome to Johnstone Wheelers and the bunch forum. Absolutely you can join a club ride or two as a taster. You'll find details of club rides under the club rides section of the forum.

This week's main bunch ride is out Kilcreggan and back, circa 70 miles at a steady pace - 17mph ave for now. We meet at 09.00 on Sunday morning at the clubrooms on Miller Street Johnstone (just off the cycle track). The intermediate and 30 milers groups usually have their own run details posted up.

The intermediate group will as a rule of thumb cover 50-60 miles around 15 mph and the 30 milers will cover up to 50 miles at a social pace.

Come along and introduce yourself to the guys and girls. If you've been riding at a reasonable level for 28 years I'd suggest you consider the main bunch would suit you. The pace ia more relaxed at this time of year and we will look after you in any case.

    Cheers
    Mark

Hey Robbo, new member myself this year. I found JWCC to be a welcoming and friendly bunch and have enjoyed many runs. Generally meet at Miller Street on Sunday mornings for the off at 9am. Often three groups - 30 milers, intermediates and main bunch, to choose from depending on your time and ability on the day. Committee members generally there on Sundays too so can take you through membership etc.

Would recommend giving it a try. You won't look back.

Welcome to the Johnstone Wheelers Robert.

    We have 3 groups who roll out from our clubrooms in Miller Street in Johnstone at 9am on Sunday. The groups are;

    30 milers
    Intermediate bunch
    Main bunch.

Have a look on the Club Runs section for details of each of the runs.

You're welcome along to 3 club runs before there is any expectation on you to become a paid member. Any questions just ask....

    Cheers
