It was a beautiful day back in August 2015... My biggest regret was not doing the x2x56 instead of the 1x56, 1 x 50: https://www.strava.com/activities/364250158
And make sure you have the full scottish breakfast on the ferry (both ways).
Good luck.

Another one in the Chocolate series, 7.15 meet for 7.30 off.
Following the discussion on the CTT FB page, don't forget at least rear lights, and front ones are advisable too, given some of the manic driving we're seeing. Just to be clear, most drivers are sensible and considerate, but there is always the odd one who will make absolutely no concessions. Don't give them an excuse, make sure you have lights.
Jets are remInded that we need a parental consent form for each event.
You’re not selling time trialling on a bike I’m afraid. In my judgement the Georgetown Rd is pretty safe. Yep lights are great. But if you really want to stay safe I’d recommend Zwift. C’mon Alan. Lighten up

Six souls faced tonight's biblical conditions to fight for that much desired end of season chocolate bar.
It was hard fought:
Gerard 17 19 (pd)
Lorne 17 21 (guest)
Alan T 18 18(pd x2)
Sam Edgar (age 13) 19 08
Hannah T 23 46 (guest)
Stuart DNF (puncture) (pd x2)
Temp 12 degrees, 1004mb, 85% humidity, 7mph NE wind. It should have been a fast night. Alan got a season's best. He is in full training post retirement but doesn't plan a taper until his return from Calpe. Hardcore.

We need the return of the intermediate sprint. And double points for the first week of the month. Might be easier just going for top 3 getting points. You’re never close enough to see Iain

So if you go with groups , Question 1 who is in the faster group? Question 2 Which group goes first , Question 3 How do you move from group 1 to 2 and finally Question 4 Who decides who’s in which, and based on what criteria?
Why not just hammer it along the West Ferry and see who’s left standing, that usually splits the group, then hammer it into and out of Kilmalcolm that would split it , popularity brings additional problems
On Thursday there weren't enough riders for split groups. I enjoy the Thursday chain gang especially as riders with completely different agendas can all ride together. I personally want to do as little work as possible until the Clune. After the Clune gloves come off and on the Georgetown it's great to alternate between making the whole GT hard or sitting in for the sprint, or going for a late break. Whatever I try it doesn't work of course.
Billy told me yesterday he always goes long on the sprint because if he went short with his 1400 watts no-one would stand a chance.
Also the Renfrew Bunch on a Tuesday is great for 40km eyeballs out from the gun. Some folks start at the top of Bishopton and go up the Heggies. They save everything for the GT sprint. They know who they are

Plan to be there...DONT think splitting into groups would be a good idea
I did the North Side Chain Gang on Monday which had 3 groups of 12 to 15 riders. That worked perfectly. I guess people join in along the way but when you get to 20+ riders we become a hazard to the motorists and it's harder to get a training benefit. What's your objection to splitting the group?

Chain gang is great and everyone is welcome. Not official Jwcc night just so happens was started by Jwcc members as alternative to Renfra bunch to give us lesser mortals a taste of chain gang. Iain Mctavishes’s introduction of World Cup has just made it better and more popular but whilst an open event Jwcc do have their own points table which is great for me
i also pained and discombobulated as being a Jwcc worthy thought me and gang were doing alright. Healthy senior and jet membership regular main & 30 miler bunch runs. Recent resurrection of intermediate bunch ( see Sunday coming) Wednesday women’s only ride. Confined events when members give up their time to allow other members and on occasions guests to ride and get a time.maintenance classes about to start again with members giving of their time and experience for others. Discounts on your nosh @ Amaretto. Fancy new kit etc etc.
Sorry I am a bit crotchety just now as have been laid up with chest infection and being old a hypochondriac & asthmatic only heightens my despair

I am being less than gracious about our esteemed worthies. Pleased about these new initiatives. I can see the goodwill.
Guess I never got over being banned from the confined events when I paid my subs but took out a BC race licence with another club.
My sourness is not an age thing I was born crotchety. Just glad I can ask my friends along on a Thursday.
And you’ll escape that Slough of Despond any day now Charlie.
Cheers

Forecast is good, there will be lots of riders. This is a club ride with guests who we make welcome. If you can still speak during the ride then by all means invite guests to join if they are not already in a sister club. There are a lot of non-club riders who need a home and these rides have shown that we're a good bunch to ride with.
Didn’t realise Thursday chain gang had been annexed to the official club activities. My understanding was it was Charlie’s ride and anyone was welcome. If the JWCC worthies get to have a say that’ll be the end of civilisation as we know it. Seriously pained and discombobulated.

That is 2 years in a row I can’t make it. Once I’ve perfected my new bike position Richard and I should have a ride off at the Sam Dooley. I feel he’s on the decline.

Fair play to riders and helpers. I always love seeing the results posted up.
Did the Renfrew bunch catch anyone during their ride last night? I've been nosying about on Strava and the bunch seem to have reached the Westferry earlier than normal.
10m 40s for the first half of the Westferry for the Bunch. Not that quick (my 42nd fastest time on Strava) but Cedric had blasted the pace to Bishopton... did catch one rider I seem to remember, who gallantly didn't draft us

We should have taken some pics. A great night. The Clyde was looking epic and so was I! Got home, PB recorded, thinking this is the fittest I've ever been. Best open a bottle to celebrate.
Meantime Stuart with a 23 02, getting dropped on a Thursday chain gang is embarrassing. Us TT'ers have a reputation to keep. I do think he might be roasting us all very soon.

630 then
I trust we will all be seeing a captain of industry on the front to drive the pace rather that sitting in to save legs for the North Westerly that is forecast for the Clune
The wind is forecast to change (unfavourably) at about 6pm! Anyway we can't keep changing our plans like the wind. Stick to plan A - the Marc Kelly leg popper plan. Thanks in advance for sacrificing yourself like this Iain.

Weather forecast looks excellent - 1015mb and light westerly. With an extra big push off from Charlie could be some big PB's broken. Want to compete - promise to hold up on the next high pressure night

Another good turn out. Will do the full scores later. Marc with full points again...and Charlie joining the super elite awesome group that gets points on the KOM and the sprint on the same night!
KOM
Marc - 5
Me - 4
James - 3
Charlie - 2
Finish
Marc - 6
Paul Mcd - 4
Ian A - 3
Charlie - 2
Me - 1
There needs to be a time cut off for getting KoM points on the Clune. I suggest 8mins. Which means nil points for everyone tonight. Flippin sandbaggers - taking a rest up the Clune while we hammer up the Heggies.

Seems we have gone back to a bunch ride for the first part. I preferred a chain gang from the start that gradually winds up. Saves having to free-wheel / brake and worry about the swarm around you.
My suggestion is the folks that are wanting a social ride stick to the back and chat. The whole ride only takes an hour.
