Many thanks folks, particularly to all who volunteered their time and efforts today (and in advance) to let us ride - very much appreciated, as where the shouts of encouragement along the way.

Thanks too Martin for the update on Geoff - glad to hear he is in good spirits - all the best to him for a speedy recovery.

Managed to clock another pb, 24.12, this time, so that's 2.01 faster than last year. Well chuffed with that. Well done to big Al, getting a third place overall.
Just had check just now, and the results haven't been posted yet.
Conditions were a bit cool, with a north-easterly wind, translating into a slight headwind on the return leg. Challenging conditions, but we've seen worse.

Thanks for the responses, much appreciated. Richie, it's an all black cross bike, so I think it needs to match, but thanks for the offer. Jannza, if you can be bothered looking it out to check that would be great, if I get the chance to pop in to Thomsons I'll let you know, but we're away racing in Dundee on Saturday and Aberdeen on Sunday - such is the life of a soigneur :-)

    Thanks Alan!

Yes Iain, it was a 20:44 which is 11 seconds off my PB from 2 weeks ago, the course just suits my power profile really well being reasonably flat and in a straight line! Will really need to get a power meter some time soon as that's how everyone else rides it, I just go off heart rate and cadence (which I have really been experimenting with over the last few 10's).

It was a steady ride and I didn't think it was fast until about 2 minutes to go, I still find it hard to judge where I am on that course, it just all looks the same! I was still fairly battered after Wednesday night on the A77, that is a tough course, and yesterday was my fourth 10 in 8 days. I think the thing that really made the difference was a good 1hour warm up, getting there early, and being in a good organised routine! It sounds utterly daft, and it's the simple things, but having a pop-up gazebo has also made things much more comfortable for getting ready and warming up in, I had 3 of the top 7 riders over begging a shot for their warm ups too!

Thanks for all the nice comments and encouragement, it does make a difference, hopefully there's plenty more good riding still to come, I'm looking forward to a float night on the Westferry

Can you get to Paisley for 6.30? Say Thomsons shop? Up past Robertson car park and head for fenwick then A77. You could bail at Mearns and I will head for Neilston. Any good?

Very small turnout tonight with 16 riders registered and 2 more turning up on the night. We were given a choice of 500, kilo, 2k or 3k, or a combination of. Emma bravely opted for a 3k, a 500 and a kilo (I think, correct me if that's wrong). Adam H chose a 2k, 500 and a kilo, Matty from the jets had a 500 and a kilo, and I took the same. I can't speak for anyone else's results, but I took both of mine in 43.1 and 1.24.6. After a short rest we had an Italian pursuit with all 4 joansins in the same team, then a Devil and then 20 laps points race with points awarded every lap. My old legs were distinctly rubbery after the devil, so I called it a night there.

That was likely to be the last night of track league until after the games because numbers have dropped right off, so if anyone was looking at the team pursuit night on 21st May, chances are it's going to be canned.

Thanks Billy! Not the best of days, off very early and a messed up prep with only 15 minutes warmup led to a slower than anticipated time, but still a Westferry PB by 1 second.

Rider of the day by a mile was Chris Smart, 20:07, nearly in the 19's in those conditions!

Looks like Aldi will have another sale of cycling clothing etc starting from 4th May. I've never bought their products but I hear they get good reviews for the price. May be ideal for beginners or returners not looking to spend too much.

    Anyway, here's a link to Aldi https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/specialbuys/sunday-4th-may/,

Have a look at Mark's post regarding ordering new kit:

If you want to try for size before buying, go to Cafe Seimpre over at the Westend of Glasgow. They have fitting kits there you can try on to know your size.

    Happy Shopping
