Weather forecast for Saturday doesnt look good so a Zwift ride up Ventoux. It's a long climb, aiming for 3 w/kg all the way up.  If this is too hard, or too easy then you can adjust your weight
Then the fun bit. After a regroup at the top (if you want to smash it up the final part of climb and then have a break feel free to do that) it then becomes a race to the bottom. Descent will take about 15 minutes.... DQd however if you start ahead of the beacon.
Remember to follow Johnstone Wheelers on the companion app if you want an invite
Before the event is due to start make sure you have opened up the game and can see your avatar and bike - you can ride about on any course or just sit waiting. When it is 5 minutes to the start of the meetup a dialogue box will appear on the bottom left of the screen  - select that and it will take you to the start of the group ride.

Thought I would share a few pictures of my overnighter on Islay last week with my boys.  Just cycled from Port Ellen to Port Charlotte and camped overnight.  Islay is quite stunning and I have never seen such a huge and clear night sky.  I may have to work out how to carry a telescope by bike too.

Some of those options dont look too promising!
I realise it's a selfish view but a huge part of the attraction of Cowal for cycling is precisely because it is a bit inconvenient to get to by car despite being close to the central belt. The A82 up Loch Lomond and over the Rest (or the A81 to Aberfoyle) are spectacular roads in terms of scenery but they can be horrible to cycle on because of how busy they are...would hate to see C11 or the Whistlefield and the other roads over there become like that!

Keo cleats tend to wear a bit faster than Shimano SPD-SL. It's more based on how much walking is done in them (or even just stopping and placing a foot on the ground) rather than miles riding). The Keo grip cleats last a bit longer than the standard.
In the meantime you could try adjusting the release tension see if that improves things. For the noise you could also try removing each bolt on the cleat and adding a bit of grease to the threads.
Shimano SPD (the metal mtb style ones) are the longest lasting but for road SPD SL are my favourite - nice big platform. However i have Keo / Garmin Vector pedals on a couple of bikes too, i don't really notice a huge difference between the two.
Exustar are usually alright - they make the garmin branded cleats and i've not noticed them last less than the Look ones.

thejanullrichdietplan reacted to EricL in Covid19 update 23/09/2020
New message from Scottish Cycling 😷   We have now had it confirmed from sportscotland that as a result of yesterdays announcements, there is NO impact on organised sport.   The importance of organised sport complying with the SGB guidance has been reinforced, particularly with the regards to the following:   Encouraging all club members to download the Protect Scotland app - www.protect.scot Ensure that all clubs have in place at least one Covid-19 Coordinator, a Risk Assessment is in place, and a record of all attendees is kept for at least 21 days after an activity has taken place. Wider societal rules apply outside of the organised activity. Please continue to reinforce to club members the importance of adhering to this, considering the image that we portray if large groups are seen without physical distancing before and after activities
Please encourage all club members to ensure they have knowledge of what the guidance is, and ensure that they know who their club Covid-19 Coordinator is for the purposes of Test & Protect.
    JWCC - Covid19
I'd like to believe that most of you have read my previous Covid19 Updates and know what is expected from each of us, when JWCC is out on the road, pretty well by now.
Below is the link to our most up to date Scottish Cycling (SC) guidance, which hasn't changed recently, and would encourage every rider to take a little time to read through this so we can all understand what our personal responsibilities are when riding, congregating, and at café stops. Please plan accordingly for before, during and after each group ride.
My thanks go to each of the volunteer bunch ride co-ordinators to date for their part in taking the Test & Protect rider contact details for the club register and promptly sending these on to me.
As a reminder, any member intending to organise a JWCC bunch ride then please make sure you have fully read and understood the latest SC guidance document, confirm with all participants of their need to comply with the general societal rules, and forward the rider contact details, time of ride and any café stop locations  to me as soon as possible following completion of the ride. Ideally this will happen automatically and I won't have to chase folk up for these lists. Activities, bunch rides and gatherings posted in the name of JWCC on The Forum, club Facebook page and JWCC WhatsApp will qualify for the need to report. Details of all member riders and any guests are to be included - no exceptions.
Finally, If you are unsure of any aspect of the Covid guidance then please do ask for clarification rather than 'winging it'..... it is up to all of us to get this right! (and remember - no house parties! 😟)

    With thanks,
    Eric

Should work, although i've not tried it with komoot.
There is also a manual way to do it too - download the gpx file, connect garmin to computer then drag and drop the file into a folder called 'new files'. Disconnect garmin then next time you turn it on the route should appear under courses.

Just to let you know the track league is being postponed to January 2021 and the season is now going to be the calendar year rather than the winter with a short break over Christmas/ New Year.  There will be a longer break in the summer, so in effect the actual months being raced will be the same as before the difference will be in the league table.
    4 months to get fit!

I know the route - could tweak it a bit and head to the cafe that Mark recommended a couple of weeks back?
(by tweak could potentially miss out the whole transmitter climb )
