BoydJohnston got a reaction from Ian Holms in Sunday, 25th June
I'll be at the clubrooms for 9:30 for an easy run. Was thinking of visiting the wind farm on Eaglesham Moor, but open to other suggestions depending on who is out.

BoydJohnston reacted to Alan McLean in disc brakes or not
If not going to worry about UCI racing rules then get discs. Rim wear is a real shame on nice wheels which will eventually wear out. With cartridge bearings in disc hubs you have everlasting wheels! I agree with Darryl that you could get a killer carbon wheelset and keep it forever.
Also the thru axles are a fantastic development for stiffening up frames and forks and front thru axle is quicker than 9mm QR! I accept that long-term axle compatibility might be an issue and it would be difficult to swap wheels between bikes.

The 30-milers is where it's at this week-end.

BoydJohnston got a reaction from Ian Holms in Sunday 28th May - Eglington Park (2nd Attempt!)
Enjoyed the run today - even if I was mostly hiding at the back. Shame I had to shoot off and missed the grub, the banter and the photo-shoot. Ended up time trialling on the track to catch the start of the Grand Prix.
Thanks to Paul for doing the organising.

I thought I lived in a dictatorship where what I say goes. However, there are two under-2's who apparently have more voting power than me, so I've kept them up late and read stories so I can sneak out before they are awake...............

Great run today. Thanks to Paul for the route and to all for the company.

BoydJohnston got a reaction from Roberto in Intermediates Run -Doon taeTroon 16th April
Must have been hard to get going again after the cafe stop. The non-stop, cold rain had me borderline hypothermic by the time I got home. Bad choice of gloves in particular had me stuck on the middle ring, fumbling at rear changes and having to ask for help to unzip pockets to get keys out when I got home with 35 miles on the clock. The conditions made this the hardest run of the year for me.
A warm bath and a coffee got me warmed up eventually.

I should be down for this one, but may cut it short.

BoydJohnston got a reaction from Darryl Gunson in Sunday 19th reliability 3, Sinclair St.
Currently on antibiotics, so won't be doing the full run. May come down to do the run over to Erskine bridge with the 9:00 group, just to get some fresh air.

BoydJohnston got a reaction from Darryl Gunson in Blackburn Outpost saddle bag
I use the q/r version from here - http://www.carradice.co.uk/products/saddle-fixing-systems- with a traditional small saddle bag. The support and the bag will work out relatively expensive - but will last a long time.
-
BoydJohnston got a reaction from Morna in Sunday 29th - Eglington Country Park (+ any intermediates)
I should be there if the weather holds, but may do the route at a slower pace if I struggle on the Bowfield climb again or if there are any other slower riders looking for company.

BoydJohnston got a reaction from chung in Sunday 15th Jan
Thanks to Elaine and Bill for the company today. Down the track to Kilbirnie then up past Beith Golf Club and a wander through various back roads to Kilmacolm before finishing back on the track. 46+ miles for me, which was probably double what I would have done on my own.

Graham,
I think Sunday is the 27th..........
I'll plan on being at the club for 09:30, but not sure about keeping up - though I should be able to get to the cafe before you have finished there.
