Just back from a weekend on Arran in campervan. Wouldn't cycle at the moment. Except for the sea level roads on west coast the roads are diabolical. The bit around the velo cafe is a mess. Spoke with the tearoom owner at Sannox who says people are commenting on abuse of their cars by potholes. Local paper reports organised cycle events likely to be discouraged. Sorry Paul but I would give the DA a miss until roads are fixed. 

A good coat of Scotoil FS365 on all components likely to corrode ( not brakes obviously). I use the stuff on my road and mtbs. Can be sprayed fairly liberally on drive train. Great stuff. Also brilliant for the winter steed . Spray on wet bike when you can't wash and lube. (again avoid rims and brakes).

Endurance fs260 pro sl Ramsay. I have the extra long leg and you can choose pad width. My only gripe is the writing has started to peel. Other than that well worth the money.

Ok, so I am now officially old, having bought a new Whyte Dorset for comfortable commuting. Worse still, I love the new bike with it's disc brakes, comfy riding position and sensible 28mm tyres. Hell, I have even fitted SKS mudguards which are as wide as my thighs. No more caning it along thecycle track for me!

Richie, i figure it takes me 4-5 mins minimum to change a puncture. At my speed thats nearly 1/4 mile lost! Doubt lightweight rubber would make that much difference!!!! Fnarrr fnarr.

No road miles since early December really had me knackered today. Felt like pedalling through treacle. Was only when cleaning the bike I realised that the back brake was jammed against the wheel! No..........really..........it was!!!!!!!! New calipers badly fitted (by me). No wonder my legs are gubbed.

Can anyone enlighten me? Where is the best place to MTB in Gleniffer Braes. Where is best to start ? Plan to take novice with me so nothing too mental. Don't mind some challenging bits. Are maps available? Is Buckfast optional?

I'm not cycling in a country where, according to the photo on the website, the Polar Bears clearly will mate with anything, including goats!
