GrahamF got a reaction from Paul C in Intermediates Run -Doon taeTroon 16th April
By Dave's standards this was obviously a dry ride, but for me it was the wettest and coldest for some time. But it was good company and nice to get back to Jack's cafe.
Thanks to Paul for posting the ride, I'm hoping for better weather next time!

Must have been hard to get going again after the cafe stop. The non-stop, cold rain had me borderline hypothermic by the time I got home. Bad choice of gloves in particular had me stuck on the middle ring, fumbling at rear changes and having to ask for help to unzip pockets to get keys out when I got home with 35 miles on the clock. The conditions made this the hardest run of the year for me.
A warm bath and a coffee got me warmed up eventually.

Gerrard, Graham, Boyd, If Not Wet Dave (see above) and me braved elements and headed south.
Decision made to stop at Jack's cafe in Stewarton for much needed warmup
Back via Neilston and Dalek hill. 45 damp miles.
Thanks guys for making the effort!!

Got a new bicycle specifically for the commute.
Will take suggestions on what to change on the Cannondale now that it will not get so worn our.

Planning to do it on my road bike and beat 26 mins on the Strava segment. If no one else turns up I should be awarded double points.
Also Nightingales e mailed me to say their committee thought I was too good for their APR but they are going to give me priority for the Sam Robinson. Alan Mcb and Alex B got their entries accepted btw. Cool eh?

Ian McG. 17:26
Jess M. 17:43
Paul L. 17:45

We found a Mini-Pump on the verge after the event tonight, any claims in writing please!

yep, sorry. No idea where Karen came from! Must have been on tv as I was typing or something. Sorry Jane!
Tonight has brought my cold and cough back twice as bad as ever. Many hot drinks, paracetamol and sunny tv shows on couch for me this evening.

A tough old night on the Georgetown. Well done to Jesse on her first effort on this course, and a great time, and thanks to Graham and Jane for doing their bit.
I had actually ordered rain for the night, it was in fact late in arriving.

George Donnelly (appearing by special permission of HMG), 29:11 (PB, paid)
Mark Kelly 26:30 (PB, paid)
Paul Leavy 27:06 (PB, paid)
which leaves the Hilly TT champs looking like:
Mark Kelly 25
Ian McGinty 15
Paul Leavy 10
Thanks to Ian Holmes for marshalling and Gerard Deeley for holding.
The TT league points will be posted in the TT league thread.

Yes, it's the opening TT of the confined events series. This is the first trophy of the season up for grabs to the fastest rider on the day, as well as early season TT league points.
2 laps of a hilly route with some challenging turns and a terrific descent. An excellent introduction to time trialling for beginners, as well as a decent warm up for the more experienced.
As normal, there will be a £3 entry fee, payable on the day, the proceeds going towards the costs of the awards at the end of the season.
The course:
http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/651582320
Meet at the start at 09:45 ready for first rider off at 10:00. The start is at the house on the Gateside road, just opposite the right turn that leads to Tandleview stables.
Volunteers required for timekeeping and holding.
I will bring some cable ties.
This event is apparently attracting some high level interest across the world.

GrahamF reacted to EricL in Audax 2017
First go at an Audax event this Sunday 05/03 'Forth & Tay' together with AlanF and DavidC...approx. 130 miles, we'll see how that goes!! Apart from anything else leaving the house before 6.00a.m. seems a bit extreme!

GrahamF got a reaction from Darryl Gunson in Blackburn Outpost saddle bag
If you get one I'll be interested to see how you get on with it, I've looked at this type of bag and dismissed them as being expensive and difficult to access for a limited amount of space mounted high on the bike. They are trendy but I don't think they have much to offer over a traditional large saddlebag.
My last years light touring set up had a bit more space and flexibility for getting at things en-route, but is means more weight. I will no doubt review it for the coming season.
For comparison this is the fully loaded self sufficient touring kit with a tent on the top of the rear rack!

GrahamF reacted to EricL in STRAVA - it's official!
As many of you already know there now exists the JWCC 'official' Strava page. This is a new page built towards the end of 2016 to provide active 'Wheelers' with a single club-managed site to record all of your rides and see posts of certain upcoming club runs and events.
The new Strava page has all of our known 'Wheelers' contact details and web links to places such as FB and British Cycling where members and joiners can find out more about the Club.
Unlike the old site the admins are controlled by Club members, more administrators can be added as required, this has enabled the posting of upcoming events and club rides. Now that we have entered 2017 you may have recently noticed details of the 1st Reliability were posted and everyone who has joined JWCC 'official' page should have received an invitation to attend. It is now possible to register an interest in joining the event by simply clicking on a button under the Group Event notice.
It would be good to have all, or most, of our current membership operating on the one Strava page, there are currently 45 members of the new JWCC 'official' Strava but still c80 on the old one. You are not obliged to do so, but if you want to receive information on club events and keep an eye on your friends (or enemies) achievements then why not join JWCC - official for 2017 and you can then leave the old pages.....it's simple...
...follow the yellow JWCC badge!

GrahamF got a reaction from Gerard Deeley in 2017 Provisional Calendar
Well done on this Alan, I suggest dropping the 3rd practice 2 up on the 15th Aug. as: the practices have historically had a low turnout, two practices should be enough and it will be a minimum of disruption to the rest of the programme.
