Think we should restrict access to members as do not see why joe public should have free access to such entertaining posts. Freedom of expression and diversity of opinion should not be confused with offensive remarks.

Mark, out of interest this is how Lomond Roads post their club runs...

Nothing particularly new in term of routes but quite a clear way of communicating what's happening over a reasonable time period.

Life's too short for the cafe at Strachur (IMO)!

Last couple of times I've been round that way I have eaten at the Creggans Inn round the corner (towards Cairndow). The bar food is excellent and reasonably priced, service first class and very welcoming of cyclists. It also has outside tables in the event of sunshine!

Yeah ,with Simon. We did complete the loop to kinross btw, Garmin battery gave up before us ! SS reckons it's the best one day in Scotland - some beautiful roads including Glen Lyon and south sides of Loch Tummel and Loch Earn. Plans being made for another big one for weekend 7/8th June.

Looks like I will make this. Will be there for 10 ferry.

You guys know I prefer the longer route to Strachur either via Beallachandrain ( C11) or via Tighnabruaich.

What about dragging the full bunch up the last climb to Tighnabruaich which is a nicer stop than Strachur and just reverse route after lunch (Kames Hotel ?) Dunoon Tighnabruaich is 26 miles with 3 climbs. Those keen to add difficulty could return via Otter Ferry and Beallachandrain (C11) or even Strachur.

Sorry Greg - just confusing the issue ! Will go with the flow on the day.

Flanders was going to a one off for me too but am glad I ventured back to the pave. At the Ronde the distance and the hills are the main deal with the cobbles thrown in. Here it's all about the pave. The upper body takes a pounding and like many others I found it difficult to squeeze a bottle for a drink at the end of the secteurs. Entering the Arrenberg was a special moment and the ferocity of that 5 star secteur really let us know what we were in for. Despite the challenges we kept the bunch together and everyone rode well ( even if Chung looked more than a little shell shocked !). I'm afraid I ENJOYED it !
