You've a better chance of getting sprint points if the fast guys are at the TT

yeah can do the chain gang. The restricted gear TT will however serve as the prologue for the Tour de Chainy in July.
(the TT times will be noted and instead of points for the Clune and Finish over the rest of July it will be bonus seconds....riders will then be classified by time rather than points). Hopefully that will incentivise turn out at this TT!

Charlie, Ian and I have discussed this a couple of times. My expectation for this is that it's a one off, due the earlier cancellation, it gives another option for future seasons if it works out. I see no reason why the chain gang can't go ahead given the number of non-members that take part, and it is a good workout.
Ian has replied while I was typing this, so I'll leave it there.

Charlie, the chain gang isn’t an official club event so there’s nothing stopping anyone from attending that instead. I think Alan would just like club members to support the TT. You being a klassiker roadman aren’t suited to these events that require putting your pug like nose in the wind.
I’m sure both events will be well attended- the TT supported by rippling Adonis types, the chain gang with the usual riff-raff, hoi polloi, footpads & cut purses.
I’ll be at neither

charlie p reacted to PaulL in Borderlands Explorer 600km - Paris no more
David B, David C and myself returned to Galashiels for another Audax, this one was the last one we needed to qualify for PBP. David B had decided not to go to Paris and was just doing this for the craic. Davie Borland was planning on riding straigh through the night so he could meet his wife for stake and chips about 1pm the next day, the pace he set of at it seemed he would! he was flying and lead the field throughout the day, as this was 3 out and back legs we got to wave a couple of times. He sensible decided to stop after the second leg rest up and meet the wife. David C and my self had a more relaxed plan and after the first leg 230km we were feeling good, We then headed of into the night for the second leg towards Gretna and rode with a Friend of Campbells called Neil. He was stopping at lockerbie at the first passing, but we decided to continue on hoping to complete the 2nd leg without stopping, but our pace had dropped in the darkness and as we hit Gretna it was fairly cold. When we got back to lockerbie about 380km in we were very tired and the usual pains we each had were back. We decided to stop at lockerbie truck stop(from and Irvine Welsh novel) and sleep for 3 hours and head back over the climbs in daylight.
When we woke we both agreed to head back to Galahsiels and call it, it was a tough call but by this stage we had difficult sitting down and our pace was abysmal. I suppose training for these events are a good thing! and the qualifiers did there job, and weeded out the chancers trying to do the bare minimum to get to Paris! any way we got back to Galashiels after 460Km and plenty of time to do the 140km left, but of to McDonalds and home we went! Thanks to David C and Davie B for the company on this adventure! one my buttocks will never forget!
Salut!

Ah, the day I tried to give us all a trip in an ambulance... :-/ No wonder you haven't been back!
It's still a good road. Best climbed from the west side, which is the poorer surface, then you can descend on better tarmac to North Third. There's so little traffic up there, the sheep run away from the roadside as soon as they see you!

Could someone else please attend chaingang tonight. I am still suffering from trauma of hanging on to Galebs wheel last Sunday and if mark kelly posts that he is coming I am staying indoors

Enjoyed that today! Good to see quite a few folk out to join us - thanks for coming along guys! Charlie, Marc, Robbie, Al, Iain, and myself headed to Barrhead, up the dams, up Bonnyton Moor & the wind farm (great views from up there!!) and enjoyed a tailwind all the way to Fenwick. Along the Kilmaurs Rd before heading to Stewarton for a nice cafe stop. Then we headed to Beith via Lugton and back to base via cycle path from Lochwinnoch. Not huge mileage but a bit hilly and enjoyable day. Weather dry and also a wee bit sunny for some of the route.

Cheers Galeb. If I had gone up Bishy hill you would have had a coronary to deal with. Will try and hang on a bit longer next time

Charlie forgot his fast legs and Marc left his in the cabin hot tub. After 10 or so miles I was on my own...head down and make the most of it. Finished with a nice avgerage speed (21 mph)...a good workout.
Charlie you had the right mind set, a few chain gangs and you will be fine for next time

Saw Don Smith at the velodrome today. Said he really enjoyed the Thursday Bunch AND he really likes our new kit. Says he's thinking about joining JWCC. Not quite sure why he ever left and joined Paisley Velo. Had a few comments complimenting the kit recently...

Nice. Make sure you bring your fast legs and a bike that will stay together
