Ramsay reacted to P McDonald in Tour of Cumbrae RR - Sunday 23rd June 2013
Well done Billy with a great 2nd place and riding home afterwards. I want to get it out there now, I stood up in the ferry and realised the lights were about to go out so cadged a lift home, I passed Billy on the Heely looking very happy.
Anyway in the 40's race, which was decimated in numbers this year largely due to the other race in Glasgow, I had a really great day out where I spent 5 of the 6 laps in the company of new vet Gordon Murdoch, Jim Cusick and Mark Skilling. I was only doing about 1 in 3 of the spells I should whilst the other 3 worked smoothly. On the final lap which was 7th time up the climb Jim racked it up from the bottom and I got pumped when my legs just said enough. Rode round to finish 4th.
What actually is Rule 5 ?

I had a good run but as usual i made it to the start just in time, was pushed of not clipped in, blasted it first few yards to make up time , untill i realised my HR was 190.slowed up and made it round, nearly threw up at the finish.Looking forward to next one.

Ramsay reacted in Admiralty Road Race 22 June
Have to say that from where I was standing that looked pretty brutal.
Checked Richard Provan's strava which showed a 24.5mph average!
& this is a development race!
All 3 Johnstonians acquitted themselves very well. Not only is young Hugh an obvious talent but he always seemed to be perfectly positioned.
The sooner he gets a burd & starts on the bevvy, the better
Well done to all!
p.s. I didn't take a cake: cos I'm in training mode.

Guys can I say from the apprentice organiser thanks to all the drivers marshals bakers and very body else who helped put this on
This is the first time I have done such a thing and much praise should go to Kenny for making sure everything needed to be done is done
I think a prestiges club such as ours should be running these events however to do so we need the help of all so quoting Churchill never has so much been owed to such few
Thanks

BTW...I enjoyed it while it lasted
Also should mention it's almost a surreal sight to watch Hugh serenely float up the climbs and pass you as you and most around you are eyeballs out...great stuff!

Great race today mr and mrs marshalls and organisers and signer onners and drivers. Thank you all very much for enabling 3 of us to race.
Paul
As for race it was pretty unrelenting, circuit proved testing with the loose chip section sapping energy before the climb each lap. Hugh just seems to float up the climb whlist most are rocking and rolling, huffin and puffin. Me and hugh got to the end in the bunch and we both finished mid bunch. I tried very hard to sprint but legs locked up, sat down for a sec, tried again but it was not going to happen. Race had just been too demanding. Great to be racing as always.

I've just been informed I've got an entry for "The Hardest Cross Race in the World" on september the 29th
What have I done?!
I've got another cross entry in the pipeline that isn't 100 yet, but would be very exciting... watch this space!

Ramsay got a reaction from Richard in British TT - 20th June
Had a meeting in the south side of Glasgow this afternoon, so came home via Stewarton. Could find any decent places to park up for tomorrow, but did pass three GB riders out on the circuit.
One of them nearly got himself killed as he overtook a pick-up and trailer who was only going slowly because of the other two in front. He pulled out at a narrowing of the road, right as a van came the opposite direction. Both van and pick-up drivers were bloody furious, and rightly so. Eventually passed the team car, where the pick-up driver got out and gave the coach an earful. With one unnecessary move (just before a hill where he was re-passed anyway!) that is almost certainly two more drivers on the "cyclist haters" list. What is worse is that whether they like it or not, team GB riders are suppose to set some sort of example.
Didn't mean to turn this into a rant, but as cyclist we often get treated like crap on the roads, so seeing people give "us" a bad name really pisses me off!
Looking forward to tomorrow night though!
Cheers,
Mr Angry From Ayrshire!

Ramsay, hopefully you will be back dishing out the pain next season!

Ramsay got a reaction from Jannza in British TT - 20th June
Great to see some local names in there. A couple that I could give a hard time to back in 2011! If I had been fit, it would have been great to have raced against some of the countries best (even to be on the same start sheet would have been cool)!

Ramsay reacted to Alan McLean in Solstice Triathlon
At last the trisuit came out in warm evening sunshine for the Pentlands Solstice Triathlon held at Threipmuir Reservoir on a Wednesday , as close to mid-summer as the organisers could arrange. I was the only Wheeler there, mid-week racing is difficult if you are working, and I only recognised a couple of other weegie types including Elizabeth Adams, a staunch WOSCA coach and racer.
Water was warmer this year which helped me for the 750m swim, then15k MTB round beautiful singletrack (trisuit plus clunky MTB = eeeugh) then 5k off road run in the summer evening sunshine.
I won the overall event by about a minute. Which was nice.

Ramsay reacted to chung in No Club Runs for me - 4 weeks!
Thanks again for all the good wishes!
I'm not "hard", just stupid & not want to face the fact!
In hindsight, I should have gone to the hospital earlier. I just hope my injusry won't end up like Ritchie's!
Charlie & Ramsay, I completely feel your pain now! This is going to be a long 4 weeks for me...................
Cheers

Ramsay got a reaction from duncan thomson in Jim Daly
Can't believe it will be two years tomorrow since Jim passed away. It feels like no time at all since we were last riding round the coast or over the bridge together, or indeed sharing a coffee or driving to a race. He is still missed.
I hope all that are out on their bikes this weekend take a moment to remember Jim.

Ramsay reacted to Jannza in Wanted: Hybrid Advice
I have a Pinnacle hybrid which is pretty close to a road bike with flat bars. Geared more like a mtb and when weighted with 2 full panniers i can still get up hills. Its my preferred bike to commute on as I find it easier to look over shoulder in traffic.
Have used it on an off-road path I wouldn't take road bike over.
I didn't like the gearing on the Boardman but it may have changed since I looked.
Person is welcome to have a shot if they are of similar height.
