P McDonald got a reaction from Ramsay in Arran
No words required. Received this magnificent photo today from an SA vet who quite understandably would love to become a DA vet 🤣

P McDonald reacted to Darryl Gunson in Friday 1st May 6pm Zwift ride - Sticky draft on.
How the excuses have evolved. I would have won but:
- my forks snapped and I had to find a blacksmiths to fix em
- my derailleur jammed
- my chain snapped
- I punctured
- my heart rate monitor said I was on my max
- my power meter said I couldn’t attack
- my internet connection failed
😄😀

Much lol. My pm did not register at start so I began about 1 minute after first group. Was overtaken after 10 mins by fast guys. Then 20 minutes of full gas with Brookes(thanks) before I felt rain on my back and slid off rollers. The tubeless tyre punctured and sprayed me and roller with sealant creating real life skid hazard. That was a sign to give up. Very silly.

Yes, wish we didn't have to wait till 2021
We were incredibly fortunate getting those brilliant days in Espana just before lockdown this year

You're doing a great job with this, I will eventually join up but past few weeks have been very busy with work related issues!
I haven't got round to sussing it out yet.
Keep up the good work

60 minute group ride, sticky draft on so no-one will be dropped.
Remember to follow Johnstone Wheelers on the companion app if you want an invite
Before the event is due to start make sure you have opened up the game and can see your avatar and bike - you can ride about on any course or just sit waiting. When it is 5 minutes to the start of the meetup a dialogue box will appear on the bottom left of the screen - select that and it will take you to the start of the group ride.
Clocks are forward so mudguards can now come off

China and Europe in lockdown, millions in quarantine, borders shut, airspace closed, panic buying hitting the shelves of supermarkets...but only now seeing Paul cancelling a trip to Arran did i realise the gravity of the situation

P McDonald got a reaction from George in ARRAN CHALLENGE
Arran Alert - there is only one weekend left to attempt the latest category in the Arran challenge, the Winter Single Arran (WSA), as the summer timetable starts the following Saturday.
Next Saturday weather looks very good, wind maybe not ideal direction but that is what makes the challenge.
I am going to have a go at his, could be either 7am or 9.45am ferry over. Only thing with 9.45 if you miss the return at 1355 then next one is 1640, so probably 7am. Plenty notice to taper and have a grand day out next Saturday
As a refresher the categories in the Hall of Fame are
SA - Single Arran
SSA - Solo Single Arran
56+50 - An SA followed by a further SA but cutting out 5 miles and going over the Ross Road climb
56+ 50 S - As above as a solo ride
DA - Double Arran
and the new boy on the block -
WSA - Winter Single Arran - which no one has done yet
Hall of Fame attached

Well, stone me. Won't forget that one in a hurry, torrential rain, sleet and hail with gusting winds blowing it through, also some sunshine
Echelon up the coast was bonza. Overall it ticked two boxes, Epic and Multi Habble
Cheers lads, gonna miss this next weekend in 🌞🌞🌞🌞 Espana

This was a terrible ride today and I feel I owe it to you all to share my view:
1. No focus. Not neuro muscular, not VO2 max, not threshold, not sweet spot, not zone 2. Just maximum rubbish with minimum gain.
2. Riding in a slow cadence is almost universally accepted now as silly. You want to grow your quads - sprint flat out for 10s. Churning for 3 hours is like going to the gym and squatting the bar for 3 hours.
3. This ride was not just time inefficient (we spent half our time free wheeling when we could have been on the sofa practising our duolingo Spanish) but more, now my legs are semi shredded for tomorrow.
4. Not even the social benefit of riding in a group. Either semi puffing or waiting for Billy in his big ring.
We all have different goals I know. But this ride is ill conceived I appreciate some guys like it. I wondered why Lynsey Curran refused to turn out - I’d told her we were touring round the lanes - now I know. It was a testosterone fix. C’mon guys. We can do better than this.
My suggestion is to stick to a long zone 2 ride. Throw in a few 10s sprints and if you like, 30mins at sweet spot.
I appreciate this will involve reprogramming our very own Duracell toy, Charlie.
I guess the forum is not for this type of comment. Won’t take offence if the moderators take it down. Honest
