From Cyclesport: At a Pinarello Launch in the middle of the Giro before Wiggins ducked out, he apologised for chucking his bike in the Trentino and said "It's not the bike, it's Shimano i'm mad at. If you're going to buy one of these, don't buy it with the electronic group from Shimano, buy the Campag one"

Just a thought, is there any chance of getting one of those finish photo things - preferably one where I almost (but never quite) managed to beat young Mulholland - as he moves onwards and upwards I can look back with at the days when I could almost .....etc.

Brilliant night. Too tired to say much other than many many excellent results from wheelers and jets.
    Chapeau team.
Final B race was combined with A race as there were so many drop outs through the evening. Alan, Lewis and I found it very ' interesting ' and somewhat challenging

think best of the night was Mr McTavish (Jan Ullrich) with 2 firsts, a second and a third in the C's? Lewis Mul with a couple of firsts on good form too. 12 wheelers podiums out of 33 available, good show all round!

That's it. My tri season has begun. Summarised in 2 words........wet and windy!!!

Fair to say i was a little nervous this morning as it has been over a year since i have raced. Spray tan mid week would have been good to take the glare off my legs!

A warm pool swim was followed by a hilly bike ride straight in to the wind. Defo need to get used to the new TT bike in windy conditions. The dead turn at the end took my about 2 minutes to negotiate and there were a few swear words on route when the wind caught me. Yes Alan, you would have been very unimpressed with my lack of skills (didn't end up in the ditch though). A 3 lap run route through mud and puddles, up steps and over a bridge made it a wee bit different from other events.

Overall time somewhere close to my PB which I am happy with. No idea where I ended up as the chip timing went array and seemed to have missed out some of the run legs. I could have been 1st lady if I hadn't fessed up to not really doing a 15 min 5K (that's like Mo pace for those of you who don't get it). That is Mo Farrah for those who don't know who I'm talking about........wee skinny guy, great british hero and double Olympian!!!!!

Great to be back and looking forward to the next.

It has been a miserable spring but I finally gave the JWCC trisuit an airing at this busy event with competitors from 7-70.

After a splash round the lazy river we covered four laps of an out and back 5k bike route, then a 5k warm down jog along the canal path.

The 90 degree corners and dead turns provided some hilarious examples of triathlete bike handling skills, maybe not so funny for folk pulling themselves out of ditches. (Actually it WAS quite funny to watch.) The strong crosswind almost gave me my own HEOTBHS while descending fast on aerobars and deep section wheels.

There are usually a few bike club rejects like myself at these triathloning events but this was a full-on trigeek affair and I did not see any of the usual roadie types.

There was a super atmosphere with lots of youth and junior racers and family racing. Big congratulations to our youth riders including Heather Fleming (skiving off exam leave) and Iona and Katrina Miller who were both second in their age groups, and Sarah Bradford who was track racing on Wed,won the Bella crit on Thursday, and won her race today :banana .

I got third vet but the gap between me and the real racers in their late teens and twenties is growing fast. The elastic is going to snap this year in my last season as a vet. I've spent ten years being crushed by unemployed students with unlimited training time and now I am going to get crushed by early retirees in their fifties with UTT. (Fortunately the NHS has promised to employ me until I'm 67 so I should get a few years of really focussed training in my early 70s).

Anyway the season has started, stay tuned for more gripping reports.

3 joansin ladies started but were really unlucky to be forced right to the very back of the bunch at the start . Elaine , Carol & Jann started off together and that was the last i saw them till they got back to the start for lap number 2 , Elaine was the first wheeler up the 15% hill at the start and Carol was 16 mins behind her this is where she decided to retire as she had been unwell all week and felt sick . We waited for Jann to start her 2nd lap but no sign of her till she appeared in her car and in her own words she was gubbed. I got a phone call from Elaine saying she had just suffered her first blow out and Carol and i headed off to try and rescue her but a service car was with her after about 10 mins and gave her a wheel so that she could finish the race . With precious time lost she was at this point in last place with about 7 miles to go and her nearest wheel was roughly 4 miles in front of her so we headed back to the finish line and waited for her and to everyones surprise Elaine had caught the girls in front of her and went past them on the hill so not to finish last i think her place was about 40 out of around 50 starters but a few didnt do the 2nd lap for various reasons

Well done to all 3 for taking part

I just missed youse at the BB. I had wanted to go over Loch Thom so I went on cross bike in case of snow. Timed things to meet you at BB. However the moor road involved clambering through a lot of snow drifts, some about 8 ft deep but you could run over the crusty top and only sink in to your knees ! Then punctured when I hit a bit of metal in the snow about 2 miles from Largs when hands were numb.
Arrived at BB on my knees and heard you left 15 mins earlier.
So quick cuppa, up Heely where I met Tony C then home.
Has a vintage You've been Framed moment when I was descending in soft snow in middle of road as the tractor ruts were too icy, saw a deep drift, too slippy to brake so tried to surf it. Doh, it was about 3 ft deep and I did a somersault into the soft snow.
