As we edge gradually back to semi-normality we are now allowed club runs, albeit in reduced group sizes and with safeguards in place.
The committee have given the ok for club rides to start up but only in groups of a maximum of 5. We can do multiple groups though, so long as we don’t mix.
With this in mind I propose the first ride to meet at 9:30am this Sunday outside the club rooms. It’ll be the bog standard ride to BB in Largs. The reason being it’s somewhere we are familiar with so less chance of any social distancing faux pas in the cafe. If all goes well we can do different routes each week.
If folk post up here to let me know they are coming I will call the BB to book a table as it’s reduced capacity and bound to be busy, going by the forecast.
anyone wishing to attend must give me their phone number so I can pass it on to Eric, our Covid officer. I will bring hand sanitizer which anyone is free to use but ideally you will  bring your own.
If someone has a mechanical they will have to fix it themselves due to 2 metre rule.
Finally, if you have a dry cough, have lost your sense of smell &/or taste or have a temperature PLEASE STAY AWAY!!!!

    Hi Jane
    thanks for asking.

Early in the crisis I asked people not to wear club kit if they felt they had to keep bunch riding because they would soon be seen as anti-social, if not downright criminal as was later govt policy.
It is now ok both legally and socially to go outside more to exercise so personally I am fine with people wearing club kit solo or with family but would ask members to follow govt advice re. groups and please don’t meet up yet. Looks like we are still some way off big club runs.
i went outside on bike this week for first time in ten weeks, it was great!.

    Hi all,
Updated guidance from Scottish Cycling on training during the pandemic. In short - no intense efforts, keep it aerobic.
We have been copied into guidance issued by SC performance coaches to their athletes advising against intense training and zwift racing. Good to know that we are already on that page in organising no drop zwift rides. Here's what they are saying:
PLEASE NOTE NO HIGH INTENSITY TRAINING … no zwift racing right now. We can still do group rides on Zwift right now but keep it steady please … it is clear that you don’t want to be doing so much that is leaves you too tired and weakens your immune system.
Scottish Institute of Sport medical advice right now:
     1.      Athletes with no symptoms should be advised to refrain from maximal sessions and we should be aiming at submaximal training for the next 12 weeks.  There is an impact on your immune system if you do high level sessions…that makes you more vulnerable.  We need to be protecting our immune systems.
    2.      If you are symptomatic / diagnosed with COVID-19, you must not do any training for at least 10 days ( possibly 14 days …we are debating the evidence at the moment ) and only then, if symptom free, can you start to do a stepwise increase over 7 days.  This is because there is evidence of damage to lungs and heart.
As you can imagine this advice is all based around keeping a super healthy immune system so eating and sleeping right will be paramount to that as well.
I understand this is all very frustrating  but please follow the advice if you can right now.

    Thanks for the heads up.
Also saw this....Jason may be an orthopaedic surgeon now but he is pretty clued up on this sort of thing and was a doctor with Team Sky in their early years so worth listening to.

Anyway think i'm going to knock zwift racing on the head for a bit and stick to the virtual group rides and steadier efforts.

Yet BC have put on a series of races on Zwift, there is also other research that suggest something different . It would be nice to actually get some clarity from the governing body, because just now it looks like is ok to race and dig deep if your joe public , but not if your SC Performance Program

Hi all, spotted this on fb today. Our favourite post ride watering hole is closing for the foreseeable. But even if you can't buy their beer you can still order pizze for home delivery.
Just ask Alan McLean for recommendations.
    Have just ordered 4 myself.
