KennyS
Reliability No 2 - Moscow The route is on the following link http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-ki ... /531494871 We are planning for three groups leaving from the Clubrooms promptly 9:00 - Thirty Milers and newcomers 9:30 - Laughing Group / Usual crowd 10:00 - Race squad and those who need a lie in after Saturday's festivities Soup, tea, coffee etc back at the clubrooms after the run. Do we have a volunteer for making the soup? Can we have a volunteer for heating the soup? This generally means being back at the club rooms half an hour before the first bunch to get the soup on. mattulyatt
I shall try the 10am group (and shall make sure I study the route so I know the way home if I get unceremoniously turfed out the back!)
Guest Jim Daly
Matt I'll join you at ten am sharp. We need to be sure of getting back before the other groups, just in case the soup runs out But the greater distance will allow us to ride as a group at an easier pace than for Reliability 1 I paid severely on the run-in, for pushing on a bit during the earlier part of the morning Jim
2023 Subscriptions stuart10ant Posted February 2, 2009 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted February 2, 2009 9.30 for me , i was a bit sore for the last 5 miles at reliability 1 lol

Colin H
Assuming I can shift this cold in time for a good pasting on Sunday I will be at the clubrooms at 10 . Geared bike for this run I think. Hills were a bit hard last week on the singlespeed but the extra distance and some of the drags might just finish me off this week . 2023 Subscriptions gregbalden Posted February 4, 2009 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted February 4, 2009 I have a parade in paisley with cadets so I can only go to the start of the loop then turn back, so i will escort the soup heater back, depending on what group they are in, Greg

Will be there for nine o clock group, hope weather holds from today with just a little more sun several degrees hotter . good to hear young greg is going to escort a soup warmer/igniter back to the clubhouse, should at least mean bill and i get a bowl of the stuff on our return if the 'Daly posse' dont overtake us .. see you all at nine ... regards ian. Members Kenny MacDonald
Road report following todays run :- only icy roads we encountered were on Bowfield hill at bottom then corner past Chapel ( road conditions at this corner are really bad) apart from that roads were fine although my rear wheel spun on climb out of Stewarton going to Fenwick ( roads slippy with mixture of salt and oil). Have a good one guys. ps had planned to nip down to clubrooms to get my soup pot , but got called out to rescue a friend in need . So no soup from Macdonalds tomorrow Maybe we will get a late soup maker posting tonight

David J
With hindsight I think the 09h30 group is a better option for me tomorrow. The Daly Gruppetto will never catch us anyway.......

ianfsimmet
in bill and my days, yer uniform would have BEEN DONE IMMEDIATELY after previous parade.... wi that 'up and at em' don't tell em yer name....response....i think they must have stopped putting that stuff in the tea cos the effect is wearing off !!!??? : so to the point in hand, who's doing the soup ?.. If necessary we can return to the hall for a wee cuppa and a chat...and to answer Janzas query, in really bad weather etc a big cup of tea and a big chat... Will post early sun after talk to bill(groupen gaffer) if things look unrideable. Regards Ian.

ianfsimmet
what was all that slippy cold stuff???? On roads in a tragic state of non repair we soldiered on..a great run but a very late start to the niners allowe the remainder an easy catch up (only jokin). Just as bill, kevin and i arrived at fenwick and i had uttered the immortal words.... 'i know a wee shop roon here that does bril rolls and sausage etc' we were ambushed by the flying half niners going so fast we got sooked right the shop... accompanied them through fenwick and last seen as they flew doon waterslapitintoyou rd and vanished. weather fairly cold but not too bad, round circuit and back the same roads, several times caught on what appeared dry and safe surface only to feel bike slide away not due to acceleration, managed to stay up,,,,but not helped by nutter in large 4 x 4almost on my back wheel through two bends not long after passed by jim and martin.Safe descent of howood hill and both bill forgot the sprint for the thirties... just as well as i had sod all left... a great day out and a good banter from all involved .and certainly got the best of the weather as i now look out at the snow covered roads and vehicles . thanks bill for your patience . .. see you next sunday.. regards Ian. KennyS
Running late this morning so headed straight for Kilbarchan for a car abondonement and a rush over to Howwood to meet up with the 9am bunch. Negotiated the frozen river bed (copyright J Daly) and was at the entrance to the Bowfield by just after quarer past. Decided to play a game of cowboys and indians, without the indians as a circled around the entrance waiting for the bunch. Ten minutes later and I figured I had missed them so set of up to Greenacres. Certainly a chilly one as both bidons were frozen over the top at Stewarton. Onwards through Fenwick and down the wee link road towards the circuit where I came across te biggest bunch of the day. Eight - ten of Ayrshire's finest ladies out for a jog. Decided to turn left on the circuit and go round backwards jsut to check if the 9am bunch were in front. By the other side of Moscow I decided I was obviously on my own and retraced my steps to Fenwick where Mulhooligan and Daly were heading out. Declined Mul's invitation to join them and headed for home. Was starting feel a wee bit gallus as I dropped into Stewarton round the bends. Was soon sorted out though by a wayward back wheel on one corner Legs were beginning to feel the miles as I dropped into Lugton and onto the final leg. Safely negotiated the frozen river bed and joined the Beith Road. where two riders dressed in red were seen in the distance heading for teh sprint. Decided to go for a big finish before realising that the legs were shot. Got to the roundabout at Cochranemill Road in time to see one of the riders turning into the MacDonal Estate. By this time the legs were gone and was struggling to keep the wheels turning All became clear on arrival at the clubroom as the build up of salt, mud and whatever else that had frozen between the muddies and tyres was actually stopping the wheels from turning Dragged the bike into the clubrooms to be confronted with the biggest fear of the day. Nae Soup Thankfully the 9:30 group were just behind and Vicky and her new mate Ainsley came up with some fantastic veggie soup. A great, if cold and lonely, run. Bring on the summer
Members Kenny MacDonald
Kenny the riders you saw were the remnants of the rockhard bunch ( 4) who set out at 9:00 this morning. I had intended doing soup but got called out last night ( will do West Kilbride soup) came down this morning and put on heating with intention of return ing to help returnees. Unfortunately I had prospective buyer for my hairdressers car ( Geo Hamilton ) who undertook a thorough ( trolley jack ,screwdriver and torch inspection )which meant I couldnt attend after all. Can we have confirmation of size of 9:30am bunch please with report. Easy day compared to yesterday - Yah wimps , what happened to the headwind return ps despite recession my wee hair dressers car has moved on to a new owner freeing up funds to purchase new team bus
