  1. Myself and Ken headed-out on a mini-tour of the Shire at nine in very damp conditions. Great ride on pretty good roads and best of all Ken showed me a great wee alternative route! 35 miles door-to-door. Thanks for your company and have a great holiday Ken!
  2. First time out following recovery from recurring knee injury so looking to head out for a few hours easy/medium!!!! Anyone interested in joining me then I'll see you at the clubrooms. Have a good one
  3. Happy New Year Dennis! Last two years have been excellent days out and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone there. Count me in!
  4. Are we only doing three reliability rides this year?

Count me in - I have only managed three turbo sessions this year and bored already!

    Sunday 29th

I'll be out - should be able to keep-up with a steady winter pace!
  7. Hi guys! I haven't been on my bike for three months following the arrival of baby No.2 (there goes any hopes of a new TT bike from Santa). Anyway need to get back into shape urgently. I have had too many injuries in the past and I may have finally learned my lesson about building things up slowly. So I am planning on joining you for a short while - maybe an hour out and then turn for home. Hope no one minds me wheelsucking for a few weeks. Looking forward to getting back on the bike and catching-up with everyone. See you tomorrow! David
  8. I have done the scheme for the last four years without any problems. It isn't your company that is the main issue it is the HMRC tax rules. In short you cannot have two loans running at once but you can elect to start a new scheme before the end of your current loan. My company have used both the Halfords scheme and Cyclescheme. Cyclesheme is by far the better as it is through independant bike shops (including Dooleys) so you can get a sale bike. Because of the admin charge some shops will ask you to pay a small fee if you get a sale bike to protect their margin, however, if the bike is reduced by several hundred then this is worth paying. I have heard that many manufacturers will not honour the frame warranty if you get it from Halfords as they get many of their branded bikes from independant retailers and therefore by the time you get it it is considered second-hand. The majority of companies only offer up to £1000 to their staff as anything above this would require them to get a consumer credit licence. However, I have bought bikes more expensive than this and paid the difference in cash. A word of warning though the tax rules state that the bike is on loan from your company until you have made the final payment. It is also worth noting that you may have to wait up to three or four months to get your voucher - depending upon the way your company operates the scheme. Having said all that it is a great incentive and depending upon your tax band you can save 40-50% of the cost of a new bike. Hope this helps!
  9. I'll be there - although it is starting to look a bit dark in Glasgow
  10. Thanks for a great day Dennis. Please pass on a big thank you from Craig and I to Morag for a great feed! Looking forward to 2010........
  11. Where is the muster point for tonight?
  12. I'll be out for this, however, not sure if I will do the full Tour. Two fractured ribs, tendonitis and a few lost toe nails following Monster Bike and Hike two weeks ago! That will teach me to do an event with more running than cycling in it - never again, well until the next time!
  13. Dennis good to hear this is on again! Last year was a great day, I hope you have organised similar weather? Count me in, along with my mate Craig!
