Tell me about it George. I'm 2stone down and was the slowest I've ever been last week
There's something to be said for riding the bike now and again

George reacted to alexb in 19th April – Whole Club Run to Stachur
Lovely run today. Weather, route, company, eventual cafe stop were all top notch. Headed down to Largs and over the Haylie with Paul and Alan after ferry. Really nice pace, but legs feeling it now. Hoping my medicinal Bordeaux will sort things out!
Only 55 miles short of LBL...
Bit gutted I missed George buying coffee in BoW. Some things have to be seen to be believed!

George got a reaction from Darryl Gunson in 19th April – Whole Club Run to Stachur
No better way to spend a Sunday.
The Coylet Inn won't be getting my custom any time soon but Sheila's Diner was top notch.
Great views, great company & a wee bonus coffee in bridge of weir-tip-top!

Great turnout. Was mega jealous of new bikes on display but Billy's new cycling shoes are something else. A cross between ballet pumps and football boots. Pink laces as well.

George reacted to P McDonald in Straighton Struggle
Cancelled due to roadworks. Lots of sad people at Straiton this morning.
Every cloud has a silver lining though. Went out with a group and took in 5 of the 6 Ayrshire Alps run. It was pure brilliant, lots of resurfaced roads but lots needing resurfaced. Unbelievably went out for 3 hours and did not catch a single shower.

George got a reaction from alexb in What do I do on raceday??
Well done Alex-a great first race. I'm sure it's just the first of many good results to come.
I was off in the group after Alex & was quickly off that group due to them taking off like a rocket-within a mile we were sitting at 39mph!
Knew I was never going to hang on so let them get on with it. Even riding by myself I still averaged 34mph along the A77 stretch.
Charlie came up to me in a wee group & we were able to work away & pick up & drop various wee groups along the back of the circuit.
We lost Charlie at some point & caught & passed a toiling Colin.
2nd lap was more of the same but, frustratingly, only one guy in the group I was in would work, the others either wheel sucker or made fruitless attacks off the front before dying & reverting to wheel sucking.
Come the finish I was feeling ok so towed them up clunch road only to be jumped by a couple of the aforementioned wheel sucking types.
I know I'm rubbish but still had a good day.
Stats: Donnelly 1 McCusker 0
:) :)

George got a reaction from Alan Michael in What do I do on raceday??
Sorry you're still struggling, Alan-feel guilty that it might have been me who smited you.
You'll be back smashing it soon enough tho.

George got a reaction from PaulL in What do I do on raceday??
Did a wee recon of the course today.
I don't have a chance
The A77 section is uphill & if that isn't bad enough the wind will blow it apart.
The rest of the course is rolling (mostly rolling uphill) & clunch road is horrid.
So there you go. Might just stop in & watch Milan-San Remo.

With George in group 2 we have an added incentive to go fast and try to keep the dreaded lurgi at bay! You should fit a bell to your handlebars George.

George reacted to martin in Training camp this weekend
I should probably post this in the Jets bit of the forum but thought I'd stick it here to let our seniors see what the Jets are up to.
10 Jets are joining 10 EKRC youths in travelling to Berwick on Tweed youth hostel for a weekend training camp with our friends from Hetton Hawks in the north east.
60 road miles on Sat, and then another 60 on Sunday. Our final endurance training session before the RR season starts and we focus on increasing tempo for the Youth Tour of Scotland at Easter weekend.
(and good LBL miles too)
