9 of us made good time to Helensburgh where 6 had a cafe stop and then went up SInclair St.
Me Emma and Graham continued up to Glen Fruin with a cafe stop at Balloch. Saw the other group pedal by while we in the cafe.
A good run with the rain only starting for me when I was 3 miles from Lochwinnoch - good incentive to push hard for home!
76 miles at a decent pace.

Was talking to/at Darryl last night and we thought it would be a jolly wheeze to have a cheeky wee night out to celebrate how brilliant I am.

Of course you can (briefly) discuss other topics but I can't think why you would want to and, lets face it, talking about my utter excellence at cycling could take all night.

So we were thinking that Amaretto in Bridge of Weir(d) would be a good venue. Darryl suggested riding out and back as "it's just a ride along the track" but that has an eerie ring of famous last words about it as they sell booze. I'm sure we could share taxis.

A nice dinner with a few goblets of mead would be a fine way to round off the cycling year, nes pas?

We can then head up the hill to MC Charlie's where he will amaze us by hitting the decks and blasting out some of his favourite hot trance and techno beats.

I'm thinking Friday 11th of September.

Could anyone that wants to go let me know on this thread and I'll book tables.

Of course this is open to ALL club members and their friends and family.

    Bonjour.

Met by sunny weather but strong breeze, first 50 so no idea how to ride it. time was 2,09,40 will have to double check when time come out.
A lot of up hill into the wind, just could not get into it, lost the will 2/3 of the way through, was in my own wee house of pain when big al blasted past shouting and  made me wobble dangerously, I did think of getting him disqualified but I am relay a good guy at heart.

I did have a good day though, and toped it of by stopping at Perth for mouls and frits, superb.

Not sure what times Iain cowden and mike got.

will post times of wheelers when they get posted.

Really nice course , was going well on way out caught and passed three or four riders before the turn, weather was pretty good I thought, way back felt a bit sticky then with about five to go started dying a slow death power dropped and I struggled to stay on top of any gear finished in 61 and a bit minutes ( unofficial ) still first 25 that I have finished this year so relatively happy

Thanks to Jane and Gerrard for timekeeping and holding, and again to Jane for the lift home after a very disappointing puncture with 2 miles to go and the clock at just over 12 minutes, on PB pace. Certainly a fast night tonight. Well done to everyone who PB'd.

Good race circuit with only one climb up the braes so was feeling quite confident. started well keeping the early attacks at bay and closing down gaps. Was growing in confidence As the race progressed but at the 25 mile mark there was a touch of wheels I. Front on the left due to a great deal of speeding up and slowing of the bunch and two riders clattered down I went right to avoid the inevitable and just about avoided the guys veering away from the two riders in front but just caught the wheel of the guy in front. No major damage to bike or me but frustrated as wA going well. Small hole in skin suit and brake lever slightly damaged but finished the race anyway.

Weather was truly horrible, couldn't stop shaking at the end of the race and even at race HQ, thought I was going to have to get chung to wrap his small frame round me for some body heat I was that cold. But apart from that it was pretty good. I had heard there was probably going to be a break and true enough there was, very early on, I thought I'd missed my chance as they'd opened up a bit of a gap but decided to go for it, no one came with me and I made it across thanks to a strong tail wind. There was now 10/11 of us with a couple not working but the pace set by the nightingale and ivy boys was fast and we soon shelled the drafters. I started to really feel the pace the 2nd time we did the dam climb and by this point hands and feet were totally numb, I started doing some drafting of my own and luckily managed to recover for the sprint which I had decided to go for alot earlier with the idea of getting better than 7th, I managed 3rd and happy with that, must say it was a very well organised event and great circuit, cheers to charlie and Iain for the jwcc road side support and to chung for the in car support and well done Colin and Paul on a tough night, oh and Cheers for reading. 😉

Roberto reacted to P McDonald in Vets National
Vets national at Falkirk yesterday kicked off at 10am in rain and 7c temp which was pretty grim. Dried out by the end though. It was 7 laps of a 9 mile circuit with a couple of miles run to finish, there was a short but steep climb each lap. Race was fast and steady with my average for 70 miles being 25mph including A few miles before and after. Break of 4 did a great job but ultimately got caught with about 10 miles to go. There were about 45 left for a bunch sprint with a drag up over the motorway with 1km to go. This was my undoing as body started to malfunction half way up the drag and I just could not get towards the front and finished 32nd in the midst of the large bunch spread across the road. Good to be part of it all, not good to be so far down but c'est la vie. Need to review training I think as struggling in road races this year.

Very tough evening for a 10 on the A77.

Couttie fastest of the JWCC Kronos Squadra. Think he did a 25:09 then me with a 25.27 (rubbish I know but my fastest on A77 this year so taking heart from that) Billy did a 25:59 then Mike with a 26:??.

Not one to gloat as it goes against my Corinthian spirit & really just isn't cricket but one does believe that makes it 5-0 to Donnelly this year.

Mcdonald really will have to up the ante. Just to keep it interesting I'm willing to make this weekend's 50 double points.

Best get the bicarbonate out again, Billy

Another tough old day for doing a 25. No official times posted yet but I was around the 68.40 mark. Better than a fortnight ago, but still not great. Cold wet and miserable.
EDIT. Clocked 1:08:41. My plan was working well until my visor got obscured by the deluge and I couldn't see my timer any more. Lost the plot a bit there, but got it back at 8 miles when it stopped raining, only for it to come back on at mile 17. It would be nice to do an entire TT in the dry.

    DNS for me today.

Bit of a sore throat but TBH I just can't face any more riding in this weather. It feels like December even though it's June tomorrow.

Chapeau to the guy on the flat barred bike with panniers, sitting upright with knees sticking out, who has twice cruised past me this week on the track at about 35 kph while I was on the drops battering a headwind up to BoW.

Completely baffling at first. It took me 20 seconds to realise he had a motor in his front hub, then he was kind enough to Derny me to Kilmacolm. Bliss.

I know electric bikes are not really cricket but if you meet him it he is highly recommended for a tow home around 6pm from Linwood.

(insert joke here about riders on hybrids passing me without need of motors)

Well riding in group 3 of the barmill circuit last week was tough but today was tougher, 8th on that occasion and 7th on glen taggart mid week (which was also hard with all the climbing and a really fast finish even although it was only cat 3/4). Today's race started hard with the fast boys trying to get a break right from the word go. I found myself right at the back due to trying and failing to get my strava going after I forgot to put it on 😕 (gutted) i started to work my way up to the front only to see 3 or 4 bodies go down on a fast decent (looked a bad one) I decided just to go for it and cycle hard to try get onto the lead bunch, i made it, just. No one came with me. So now there were 11 of us working to stay away. Realised quickly that I was probably out my depth. After the 1st lap I was spent due to the effort I'd put in trying to keep pace with the bunch and hill to the line nearly killed me. I managed to hang in on lap 2 and noted I wasn't the only one struggling, on the long flat roads I was doing ok and started to feel in with a chance if it came to a sprint due to the fact I was nearly double the size of anyone else, but I forgot about the hill finish and it soon became apparent that I was done. 3 went at the foot of the hill then 3 tried to follow as I went to go with them my hamstring cramped for a second and everyone sailed past. Head down dropped to wee ring and spun up the hill as fast as I could. Realising I was in 11th was torture but kept going as could see I was catching a small bunch that came into sight, cought one b4 the line to get 10th. Hardest race so far, a bit annoyed at finish but at the start I didn't expect to be in the mix so I suppose I'll have to take it. 😉

Good turn out tonight. Ended up a nice night. Windy from the west so made for okay pace down to Neilston. Didn't do the normal route as I had no wheels for motivation. Looking forward to some company next week.
