One of the Jet parents, Graham Peters, captured some brilliant pics on Sunday. Here are two: the club champion, plus the podium party. 've put them all on the JWCC facebook page, but will ask someone how knows how to also put them on the club website,

With the closed road, the start house, the film crew, 30-odd riders, dozens of spectators, and sunshine(!) that was surely the ultimate club confined. Thanks again to Jann, Kenny, Martin and Graham for a great morning, and well done to Alan and Danny for showing the rest of us how it's done! (Though I think it bears repeating: that climb is a horrible, short, sharp effort into the red. It takes a fair bit of nerve just to get onto the line at the bottom of the hill and we all deserve a pat on the back for taking it on.)

Comparing times from different years can't tell the whole story without a record of weather conditions, too…however, it has to be worth noting that Danny's time of 1:35 and Hamish's time of 1:37 would both have been good enough to win the senior championship three times out of four between 2011-2014! Stellar rides, lads.

Given a half-decent day and another big turnout, hopefully someone can record the magical 1:20-something next year.

Roberto reacted to martin in Scotland - with Jets - win BC inter-regional track champs
Jets Danny Mulholland and Gemma Penman were selected to race for Scotland as part of the 8 rider team that smashed it at the BC inter-regional champs in Manchester last weekend.

The inter-regional track champs is a huge event in the u16 racing calendar. It's only opportunity for our Scottish u16 riders to wear national colours, competing against 12 other regional teams from across the UK over 3 days.

This was the first time Scotland has ever won the event, and I'm chuffed to say our Jets played their role in a dominant team performance.

Danny was one of 2 endurance riders in the boys team, alongside Joe Nally of Hardie Bikes and sprinters Lewis Stewart (Glasgow Riderz) and Stephen Dent (Nevis Bikes). Gemma was joined by fellow sprinter Amber King of Stirling Bike club, and endurance riders Jenny Holl and Rhona Callander (also SBC).

Gemma won silver in the standing 250m time trial and team sprint. Danny missed the individual podium, but came soooo close with 4th in the devil, madison (with Joe) and skills challenge.

The girls madison team went better, winning gold, and the boys went even better in the team sprint, taking gold and a new national record. Hot stuff.

Scotland team coach John Bremner (Discovery Junior CC) paid credit to all the riders, saying he'd never worked with such a dedicated and disciplined team in his life. Youth racing looking good in Scotland.

    Mon the Jets.

There's silverware at stake this time for the David Raymond Trophy, in the clubs 2-up championships.  As usual first-timers and returners welcome!

If you don't have a partner to ride with don't worry, you may find one on the night, or you can ride solo (Though solo rides will not count for the trophy!).

First rider off at 09:30, meet at 09:15 at the usual place towards the Inchinnan end of Georgetown Road.

Here's the link to the course: JWCC Georgetown Road TT Route for anyone who may not have done this route before.

I plan to be there to timekeep, but additional help for holding-up would be appreciated.

Some riders are planning to go for a fairly gentle club ride (recovery ride?) after the competition, the route will depend on who is there, weather, etc.  All competitors / helpers / supporters will be welcome.

As Previously, note the sensitivities with the personnel at the military site next to where we start, so please take extra care to respect their property and their access.

Thanks to Kenny and all the helpers that enabled the event to go ahead.
Certainly seemed like a tough old headwind on the out leg, had me pretty much burst on the first lap, buI did manage to recover a little for the final return leg. Missed my PB by over 30 seconds, but still faster than anything I did last year.
Congrats to Alan McBride on a 57 minute something time. Great run on a tough day.

Gorgeous day for a run to Troon! Bit chilly at the start but it warmed up later.
Bunch of 8: me, Renny, Len, Robert, Boyd, Graham, Paul L and 'TT' Thompson.
    A good pace to Troon.
Sat outside the Blueberry enjoying the sunshine but a cold breeze off the sea.
    A good brisk run back.
Boyd and Graham peeled off at Highfield for the track back and Len peeled off at MOD to head for Beith/Lochwinnoch
Rest of us headed up the rocky road and then a sprint ensued from Greenacres to the bottom of Bowfield - won by Paul L, me second, 'TT' third.
According to my Strava records, when we did the run in early July the average speed was 14.9 - this time it was 16.8!!
    Well done, guys!

Not as interesting as the Chris Froome is he / isn't he nonsense but a wee report anyway. Took the start line on a breezy evening for two laps of the Aberfoyle circuit from Killearn. I had a minor crash the last time on the circuit so I'm afraid it was a case of no daring heroics in the bunch to scrap for a place in the top ten but was just aiming for a bunch finish which I managed. When one of the Glasgow Road Club guys took issue with a bollard in Buchlyvie this reaffirmed my race plan as I had no wish to end up on tarmac. All went to plan after that and was going well. Positioned well where necessary into corners. There were several attacks but mainly solo efforts so they were unlikely to stick. Was very comfortable in the race and didn't feel the need to make any daredevil moves unnescessarily this time round except for the odd visit over the (yes everyone still does it despite BC regulations) white line to move up some places. There was another touch of wheels on the back end of the circuit coming into Aberfoyle and two guys went down. However was glad of the decent stopping power of the c 35's and easily avoided it before plowing on. Hope they were ok. Conditons were bad at this point, some drizzle had given the road a slightly slippery feel so the bunch were sensibly a bit more cautious on the downhill sections. On the fast run in to the roundabout before the left turn to the finish the scrapping for places started and I found myself on the front hoping that I could stay in the top 10 as the roundabout approached but should have waited a bit longer or should have been more fully commited (not literally) in a full on attempt at a solo break as I was swarmed and ended up further back than I would have liked going into the roundabout. When we hit the roundabout the guy whose wheel I was on had unfortunately not read the race manual as he decided to go straight on instead of left. I had to correct my line as a result by which time I was having to make up far too much ground at the bottom of the climb. However I did manage to get across and picked up a few others as I made my way over the finish a few seconds only down. Positioning is everything at these corners but feel I am beginning to read races more intelligently now.
