Ian Archibald got a reaction from GaryK in Winter segment challenge
These KoM challenges threaten to corrupt my secret training program to win the sprints on the Georgetown next year. Can I suggest all the segments are left open all winter so I can win them when my periodisation cycle, wind direction and air density match in perfect alignment. Thanks.
I am currently working on long term mitochondria improvement.

Ian Archibald reacted to P McDonald in Calpe, Spain, June 2019
Hopefully the title says it. Wee visit to Calpe, home of the pro teams in Feb/March, home of silky smooth Costa Blanca roads, home of many cheap bars and restaurants, home of Col de Rates 24-7 time trial, home of imho, the best 10km stretch of road in the world - just don't ask me which 10km as quite a few to choose from.
Suggestion is
fly out Thursday 6th June 7am flight means in Calpe 1.30pm, its a 50 min drive to Calpe from Alicante. My suggestion is to hire small car as they can take 2 x bike bags and 2 people and cheap. The theory of a large van has always worked out a lot more expensive in my experience. Get in a couple hours acclimatisation ride Thursday pm. Big rides Friday, Saturday and Sunday, I am happy to provide routes and variety. Return Monday or stay longer if you wish as you will know the roads by then.
Is there an appetite for this? there was last night when beer was involved
Calpe has bike hire options so no problem there if that is your preference.

The elite band indeed. Beat Paul McDonald at the weekend. Cigar and whiskey as I type.

Ian Archibald reacted to Darryl Gunson in Hill climb #1 Tuesday 11th September 6:15 for 6:30
The record for the hc is 1.22 or thereabouts by Graeme Herd. I did a 1.37 in 2005 and was slightly faster in previous years...no chance of getting near that these days though...

Perfect dress rehearsal - Billy is my minute man on Saturday. Would I love to catch him.

I'd like to warn everyone never to let Crazy Ivan (aka Galeb) to plan a route. He only knows A roads and dual carriageways. And then he only goes at one pace which he calls tempo. Second worse ride of my life after the Rest and be Thankful last year with Paul McD and Richie Provan.

Me and Ian at the end into the wet roads. No paceline this time instead Ian suggeated riding two abreast to avoid spary...I thought ok different let's give it a go...we ended up riding two abreast the whole way .
Finished with an avg of 20.3mph not bad for basically a solo effort with Ian beside be .

You saying Frenchman can’t hurt themselves for 15 minutes? Cedric must be able to knock out a sub 16.
Failed today in my attempt to go under 2 hours for 50 miles. So sore it took me 5 minutes to peel me off the bike. So sore I’m kind of proud of myself
Yes, you are probably right about the French. They’re too smart

Sub 16:
Richard Montague, Alan Mcbride, Iain McTavish, me and Marc Kelly
Close to 16:
Billy McDonald, Galeb
Wild cards:
Cedric, Stevie Weir, Scott the new boy, Gerard Deeley
And I bet there are more who avoid me / I don't know.

Pleased to see Charlie finally finding some fitness. And, he says, he’s still on his medicinal Peroni diet.

Ian Archibald got a reaction from stevie in Saterday Training Ride 23rd June 9.30am
Very safe race. I was a bit cautious given the standard of the field and in retrospect wish I had been more active. Finished in the bunch like a true Chipper.

Ask Alex Baird about time priorities. Best to say you have better things to do.
