It's only 600 m long, how hard can it be? Elliston Castle hill climb, in Howwood.

2 minutes of pain for those brave enough. We need two timekeepers, one at the start, another at the finish. And we need riders, lots of riders, willing to put a big effort in, in preparation for the Joe Brunetti shield, traditionally won by a thin young man. There is a ladies event too when we get to the actual event, so all are welcome.

Please note the earlier start time in recognition of the night starting to draw in. Lights may be required for the trip home if you've cycled to Howwood.

Post up if you're coming to ride or help out.

I intend to ride, even although I am neither thin nor young.

Planning 3 efforts:

The JWCC Hill climb https://www.strava.com/segments/1743318 (about 2mins)

Shutterflat to Greenacres corner https://www.strava.com/segments/3970646 (about 4mins)

Shutterflat Legbuster 1 https://www.strava.com/segments/10169992 (about 1min 30s)

I see Iain Mct has had a recent attempt at the 4min segment - a couple of lead out men might be needed here.

The JWCC Hill climb is impossible - there must have been a NW hurricane in 2015 and 2016 - Richard and Robbie otherwise are total freaks.

BUT I do the think Shutterflat Legbuster KoM is for the taking.

Hope I might persuade fellow hill climbers to see tomorrow as a great training session and keep me company. I've chosen efforts with a following wind btw

The record for the hc  is 1.22 or thereabouts by Graeme Herd. I did a 1.37 in 2005 and was slightly faster in previous years...no chance of getting near that these days though...

6 riders on a cool, blustery evening. Times are:

David Cowan  2:33 pd

Joseph McIntosh. 2:33

Alan T. 2:35 pd

Gerard Deeley 2:29 pd

Thanks to Ian McTavish and Robbie for timekeeping and special mention for Scott for holding as well as riding.

I have £8 to transfer to club funds.
