DavidC reacted to PaulL in Sunday 17th Reliability #3 Sinclair Street
9pm bunch about 20?? 7 Jets giving a lesson on how to ride your bike... Golfers/Runners take notes. Never saw the 9.30 bunch until soup time which was Delicious thanks Sarah and Greg! Rumors were the 9.45 were masquerading as the 9.30s as some 9.30s hide in the 9.00??? next week im in the 9.15 group;) Great ride today

Cheers Dave, was a bit apprehensive at first, but enjoyed the fight with the wind.
Chung FYI: Echelon: late 18th century (in echelon (sense 2 of the noun)): from French échelon, from échelle ‘ladder’, from Latin scala .
Cheers All

It all started with 7 heading out of Miller Street, but by the time we got to the top of the Braes, only 5 left :-0
So, Andrew, David, Mark, Martin & myself carried on with David's original posted route, only for his Garmin to totally failed & end up we just kind of making it up as we went along. We had to be very mindful of the ice on a lot of the back roads that we were going through, well at least it was quiet :-)
Cafe stop in Stewarton - Mill House & Mark departed to head home afterwards while the 4 of us went searching for more headwind! By the way, tail wind is over hyped & so last year :-)
No mechanical to speak of as we all maintain our bikes properly in this group :-)
Made it home with my legs just about intact, just polished off a plate of Fish & Chips, oven baked of course, none of that fry stuff, I am an athlete after all! :-)
Looking forward to the 1st Reliability next Sunday & thanks for the wheels & company today folks!
Cheers

DavidC got a reaction from Elaine Muirhead in Sunday 27th January
What about this route, heading in a different direction from what we normally do?
Elderslie, Braes, Barrhead, Newton Mearns, Eaglesham, Fenwick, Stewarton (coffee stop about 25 miles in), Neilston, Barrhead, Paisley, Elderslie.
From clubrooms to clubrooms should be about 45 miles if we stick to the route, but can be flexible.

Sounds good! Could post this as an intermediate ride, given the distance.

You will be able to enter via the British Cycling website HERE
Please let me know ASAP if planning to enter as require to let caterers know numbers attending
For those who are new to the event, there are three rides available to participate in:
Short Route - http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/368004877
Medium Route - http://www.mapmyride.com/gb/lochwinnoch-sct/jwcc-don-smith-45mile-ride-2012-route-72414462
Long Route - http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/1002950791
Entry fee is £10 for Adults and £7 for U16s
Event HQ, Lochbarr Services, Newton Of Barr, Lochwinnoch, Renfrewshire, PA12 4JB
Are you able to assist?
Route checking - Each of the routes requires to be checked against the Risk Assessment (which has been done) prior to the event, This would either be Friday, Saturday or early Sunday morning. Note that this can be broken into segments and spread around a number of volunteers rather than one person checking the whole route(s). We're generally looking for roadworks / closures / really obvious issues with quality of roads as riders are expected to follow the rules of the road and any official diversions in the case of roadworks, etc...
Sign On Desk - Smiling and taking people's money as they register for the event. Required from 8:30am until latest 10:30am (Note that this would not preclude your from riding). We just need a few club members willing to help before everyone sets off.
As ever looking for volunteers. If you can help post up or pm us...
Cheers
Paul, David and Eric

Good sized bunch of 10 left Miller St on a cold but frost free morning. Made our way to Crosslee, Georgetown Road, Bishopton , Gleddoch onto Clune Brae and back to Kilmacolm in the rain for a coffee stop at Finestra for teas, coffees cakes ,rolls in sausage then rolls in egg. Dry on the way back via Torr Road and cycle track. Thanks for the company and banter.
