Tells me my estimated moving time is just short of 6 hours, so we'll be back for 2pm without a cafe... half 2 with a cafe

Epic effort lads and sure once the numbness subsides, you'll look back with fond memories. You'll just need to content yourself with us mere mortals fro the Sunday bunch.
well done to you all and there is always Flanders 2020 to look forward to

The cut off times are 90hrs, 84hrs or 80hrs depending on which time/group you start with. This equates to about 14 kmph(this will include time not moving). Not sure a talk on our strategies and planning would be helpful for members, but might get a few laughs

Don't think it will be an Express after tomorrow's effort at Arran!

Iain67 reacted to Galeb in Solo Single Arran 22/06
Obviously I have been talking to the master of Arran...Paul.
Planning on solo single Arran this Saterday. Catching 7.00 ferry and returning 11.05. Will also cycle to Ardrossan and back. So probably will end up being 100 mile ride...Its going to be a tough weekend with another big ride on Sunday as well!
So clockwise or anticlockwise if the wind is coming from south east?

Excellent effort getting back over the Moffat to Selkirk section that is one looooong 30 odd miles and hope your various ailments are ok today.
. In a perverse type of way I quite enjoyed the effort with the worst thing being the constant crap food the quiche at the old school cafe being quite simply one of the worst things I've ever eaten...luckily I had made some pieces up for the night sections so had something decent to eat at Moffat. It got cold at the end. Looking at the times if I had 3 hrs kip I would have been leaving galashiels at 730 so even trying to keep a good pace it would have been late afternoon by the time I would have finished so no go for me and would have been in bits for the rest of the day. To cap it all no steak at the black bull and burger and chips were crap..having had excellent food here before it was something I was looking forward to but at least the wine was red.
Would I audax again ..maybe as a cheap 200 sportive in nice weather. Seem to have some ability to hit a sweet spot I can pretty much maintain as an effort through the day and the fact that I had distance on the computer made it mentally easier than the 400 but fundamentally I don't get it.

Great day for it, went a little bit faster than last year, so I did not let the side down. The Jets meanwhile just get even more impressive, they are awesome.

Iain67 reacted to chung in Sunday 16th Aberfoyle and Crow road
Six of us made it out today optimistic that the weather will hold ....... & luckily it did :-)
Not quite the intended route, so no Pipe track or Aberfoyle, we did go over the Crow though, 2nd Sunday in a roll, doesn’t make it easier unfortunately!
New member - Daniel from Erskine joined us today & his first ride up the Crow ....... hope he enjoyed that :-)
Cafe stop in Clachan of Campsie again, then a pub stop in Bishopton after the Bridge for the Southsiders ......... no doubt well deserved :-)
Thanks for the wheels & company today, gents!
Will be missing next Sunday as I’ll be heading up to Stirling way!
Cheers

Currently doing the sun dance to improve tomorrow’s chances :-)

Iain67 reacted to Darryl Gunson in chaingang 13 June 630
It’s not hard to be safe, even on a training ride. Those at the front need to be mindful of the effects of their actions on those behind. So, for example, when approaching roundabouts or junctions the object should not be to sneak through, but to ensure that the bunch can get through. This may mean stopping. The whole point of this bunch was that it was to be a bit more controlled and accessible than the Renfrew Bunch. Even though there are now points to be won, it is not a race and should not be ridden as though it is.
Cheers

John / Darryl just thinking that weekend would be best due to bank holiday. Can look at other dates, maybe another weekend in Aug but would mean driving up early, cycle same day and back down Sunday. sure we can discuss tonight or this weekend

Iain67 got a reaction from chung in Sunday 16th Aberfoyle and Crow road
After such an enjoyable run last weekend, thinking the following route for Sunday.
Bridge, Alexandria, Croftamie, Drymen, Pipe track to Aberfoyle, Port Of Menteith, Kippen, Fintry, Lennoxtown, Milngavie, Bridge and back to Johnstone. Not sure of the mileage and sure Chung can recommend cafe stops. Club rooms 09:00, bridge 09:30.
Cheers

Looking to see if there would be any interest in doing the Bealach Na Ba on the August bank holiday weekend? Drive up either Fri 22nd Aug or Sat 23rd coming back either Sun 24th or Mon 25th Aug. Staying in Applecross campsite www.visitapplecross.com, where we can rent camping huts. They currently have availability on these dates, so let me know who's interested? 626 meters climbing in 9.1kms, maximum 20% but worth it for a few cold ones in the Applecross Inn afterwards.

Iain67 reacted to Codg1e in Wednesday 12th June - Windfarm & Beith
Enjoyed that today! Good to see quite a few folk out to join us - thanks for coming along guys! Charlie, Marc, Robbie, Al, Iain, and myself headed to Barrhead, up the dams, up Bonnyton Moor & the wind farm (great views from up there!!) and enjoyed a tailwind all the way to Fenwick. Along the Kilmaurs Rd before heading to Stewarton for a nice cafe stop. Then we headed to Beith via Lugton and back to base via cycle path from Lochwinnoch. Not huge mileage but a bit hilly and enjoyable day. Weather dry and also a wee bit sunny for some of the route.

2 groups making it a bunch of 9 set off in search of the promised sun-shine & hills over the Northside!
Got the hills but the sun only came out after we got completely soaked from Strathblane & into Killearn ..... boo ......... thankfully dry by the time we got to Fintry & the Crow!
Lovely cafe at Clachan of Campsies, then a blast back to the Bridge!
First time over the Kyber & the Crow for some, hope it’s not the last :-)
Thanks for the wheels & company today people!
Cheers

Thanks for posting this ride Elaine, it turned out to be a good day out, with teaming with the fast bunch nine of us went over the crow and enjoyed a cafe stop afterwards. Only one shower in a mainly dry day.
I'm looking forward to more Intermediate rides over the season.
