    Cheers Paul & Davie,

I will continue to snub social media and just accept the fact I have no friends.

    Hope to see you Sunday.

Rest assured the guy in the stripy jeresy would be not too bad on a bike with cantis or if it came to it a Raleigh Grifter.........

I dont know who the guy is on the front leading this out but a photo like this taken while you are leading a race would be as good as winning the thing!

    Paul,

Truth be told mini-v's tend to be the answer to canti's for all but guys who are good (they don't brake) and can set them up - my last bike I swapped out canti's for mini-v's as it was the only way to get rid of horrendous fork judder. Now running discs and as Paul said for mere mortals these are the answer. I hope to be able to give an update on full SRAM hydraulic v's mechanical disc as I managed to get half price deals from Ribble for combination of CX1 / Rival - bit of faffing about to get cables cut, bled and set up so maybe a couple of weeks before I get them set.

As for wiping out - I did twice the only way to get round a lot of the twisty stuff today was foot out. Forget brakes, tyres are the single biggest advantage gain in 'cross and even though I run tubs my tyres are crap at low pressures as they sit high and tend to "snap" as opposed to having supple side walls - a bit more research before purchasing would have helped. I have a set of Challenge Grifos curing at present, but gluing the Belgian way is time consuming and can't be rushed so they may need to wait ''till next year. The fast guys will be using "cotton" type side wallls which flex with the terrain and will help in all conditions.

Good to see so many Wheelers out today, hope to go a bit better next week if I can stay fit.

This is interesting footage of mens race - it is certainly a beast of a course but would be fair to say that the usual TV coverage sanitises what these guys are doing. A very different perpective and demonstration of real skills and perpective of the speed they are going....

No worries Davie hope you are ok for next week! I really liked the course... It was freezing, snowing and muddy(puddles). I was doing well for the first few laps holding a good position but it was going to be a long haul, it had a wee forest climb that had most people walking, I tried ride up it(almost) and gained some places here, but I think I was going to pay later for the efforts. Then my crank fell off just as I past the pits... not that I could have done anything as I left the spare bike at home haha... No heroics from me running for the last 20mins My first DNF of the season, looking forward to racing that course again.

a few places left for the next 3 races afaik, if anyone wanted to try out CX I would highly recommend this course as not too technical and alot of fun

    Cheers

    Paul,

If you are expecting to see me at the race today won't be there. I am on the mend and 95% there but  just can't seem to shift the last of a cold I have been suffering, I was leaving my decision to this morning but in the circumstances I think racing today would be a BAD decision.

    Off to e-mail the organiser.

    If you race today enjoy.

Last 3 laps are classic 'cross with some serious positioning moves.

If you fast forward you will miss van der Poel pulling his trademark "air" on the table tops ....class.

The scrooges at Vier and Sporza seem to have geoblocked the feeds this year so if you wait 2 days you can generally catch re-runs via cyclocrossable on Youtube.

Let's hope Santa brings a fit Van der Poel to give Van Aert some much needed competition.

It is certainly a flourishing scene and with courses as good as this one - as far removed form a muddy field as you could get - long may it continue.

Alan - I hardly smashed it today and recent progression turned into regression as legs would just not work from the get go - still fun picking a line and going through the sand dunes though . I think you reversed my narrow victory of a week ago by horsing me for 2 minutes.

    Well done all....results...

Aye.....but still need to find a minute or so....per lap!

I do like a bit of analysis of these Mylaps things and the relative perfomances of who you are actually mixing it up with during the races, have definately improved fitness wise over the series so a bigger push for next season to actually be prepared for 1st race should be priority.

Really enjoying the season and can't stress how much fun it is for anyone wanting to give it a go.
