Didn’t realise Thursday chain gang had been annexed to the official club activities. My understanding was it was Charlie’s ride and anyone was welcome. If the JWCC worthies get to have a say that’ll be the end of civilisation as we know it. Seriously pained and discombobulated.

Chain gang is great and everyone is welcome. Not official Jwcc night just so happens was started by Jwcc members as alternative to Renfra bunch to give us lesser mortals a taste of chain gang. Iain Mctavishes’s introduction of World Cup has just made it better and more popular but whilst an open event Jwcc do have their own points table which is great for me
i also pained and discombobulated as being a Jwcc worthy thought me and gang were doing alright. Healthy senior and jet membership regular main & 30 miler bunch runs. Recent resurrection of intermediate bunch ( see Sunday coming) Wednesday women’s only ride. Confined events when members give up their time to allow other members and on occasions guests to ride and get a time.maintenance classes about to start again with members giving of their time and experience for others. Discounts on your nosh @ Amaretto. Fancy new kit etc etc.
Sorry I am a bit crotchety just now as have been laid up with chest infection and being old a hypochondriac & asthmatic only heightens my despair

Tommy & I had a great wee run round the coast to Largs today.  The Millport ferry just arriving around the same time as us, so we hopped on and took a wee jaunt round the island, refuelling at The Ritz cafe.  We cracked on up the middle of the island then back round from Millport to the ferry.  I couldn't pass the BB without stopping so popped in there for a coffee and a cake, then we hit the Haylie back to base.  Lovely warm day and tan has got even better
    Cheers Tommy!

Me and Marc at the start line for some hill intervals through some quite country lanes. To finish it off we emptied the tanks on Georgetown stretch before we raised our arms for glory

Chapeau Ian, I am very happy for you and I have great respect for my elders. I am also very happy I was not there to witness it as I might have recurring nightmares.

We should have taken some pics. A great night. The Clyde was looking epic and so was I! Got home, PB recorded, thinking this is the fittest I've ever been. Best open a bottle to celebrate.
Meantime Stuart with a 23 02, getting dropped on a Thursday chain gang is embarrassing. Us TT'ers have a reputation to keep. I do think he might be roasting us all very soon.

Cracking run today and yes we did hunt down McDonald. Got him just before Moscow. One of his bunch punctured. Stopped at Logan’s larder for coffee. Guy was on his own and big bunch freaked him out a bit so Paul Leavy myself and Alan Mclean hadcoffee there and rest went to Buzzworks in Stewarton. We regrouped there and headed back home. Logan’s larder is good just need to give them notice if big bunch descending on them

    A good article...

"You need not look far for divisions within the cycling world. Thankfully most are petty, some tongue in cheek, a little just plain old fun. Yet we would all do well to remember that no one voice is louder than another, one truth no more just than another.
We are one and the same. Agree to disagree and remember to celebrate the differences between us as much as we treasure our commonalities."

KoM on the shortcut is the ultimate Pyrrhic victory. An achievement that just underlines that you were weak willed and couldnt hack the full route. When i sneak up it on the Renfrew Bunch i go at a pace where i make damn sure  i won't be embarrassing myself and appear on the top 10 leaderboard with the badge of shame of a cup alongside my name.

Half a good night for me.

Punctured just outside Kilmacolm,  with a 2 inch ( exaggerated)  thorn.
Pinched the first tube in changing... Snapped the second ones valve. No tubes left.

Fortunately called in air support ( the old man) for a lift....still got caught in the rain.

    See ya next week folks!!!

I happened to be looking at the Hall of Fame, as you do, and noticed that 2015 was a truly vintage year with 7 new entrants to the SA Club. One never to be beaten you might think. I think otherwise.....
I reckon 2019 could beat that as we have 3 new entries already in April. So, to all the Officer Candidates out there, don't be shy on the training front, get a few good high tempo 60 milers under your belt and voila!  the annual inductee record to the Hall of Fame can be beaten
You know you want to. You know it will be the best thing you ever do on a bike. You know this is you purpose in life and you will forever glow in the memory. Your mission on earth will be complete. Next slot probably mid May

Utterly brilliant day on Arran and 3 new members of the SA Hall of Fame. Fantastic, and many congrats to SA Rookies Sam McGrath, Colin Sales and Alan Hendry, who were joined by seasoned SA vets Jan McTavish, Mark Kelly, Andy Gumley and myself. So 7 started as a team and 7 finished as a team. Also took all the rankings from 2nd to 6th or something on the Strava segment.
This was a rarer anti clockwise assault due to the predicted wind, however there was near zero wind all day. Very smooth paceline with much encouragement in evidence. Lots of resurfaced roads helped and I reckon this could be a year for records. Still some pretty grisly bits mind you.
Weather was probably the best I have ever seen on Arran and I have been there a lot! Truly heaven on earth.
So now you have a taste guys, set your sights on the Grand Daddy of them all - the DA in August. As I may have said somewhere before, this is a monumental and life changing experience that you will regale your grandchildren with, you will have it engraved on your gravestone, you will forever remember the single biggest day of your life. You will feel immortal.
To round it all off me and Jan rode over the Ross to meet my two girls at the Velo café, then clung on to their wheels to get back for the 1.55pm ferry as we were both tank empty status. 86 miles and 2,000m of ascent made for a fantastic day out.

Excellent stuff, good to join you as far as Spango Valley. At one extreme we had you guys with bare arms, legs and track mitts. At the other extreme we had me in full winter gloves, tights and windproof jacket ( in my defence I took daughter to airport at 5.45 and registered 3c at Lochwinnoch roundabout ! ). It was all good for me until about Largs when I turned into a microwave boil in the bag meal !
    Great picture story Stuart
