Well said Iain, Galeb, Alan. There were a number of tension points tonight for sure. Crazy surges in the though and off, roundabout behaviour and pre roundabout behaviour was shocking with a rider in the outside lane blocking cars at the Langbank roundabout ! Bunch split once after Cedric's crash, bunch split again after Houston roundabout with no proper regroup, we had a terrified motorist at Houston roundabout due to rider careering through when others including myself had stopped etc.
I say for sure a pre brief next week as there are a lot of new faces. Happy for anyone else to do it but also happy to do it myself as I feel strongly about this.
I still think we stick to one bunch, but those of us who are regulars and form the core bunch need to keep the etiquette and if others are not them leave them to it - and tell them.
To finish on a positive - at the ramp on to Westferry tonight there was a 2 rider and a single rider who horsed it off the front, however others rode steady and gradually increased pace AFTER we were all on the dual carriageway. I believe this is what we need to do then horse it in a steady line once on the dual carriageway and clune etc.

These KoM challenges threaten to corrupt my secret training program to win the sprints on the Georgetown next year. Can I suggest all the segments are left open all winter so I can win them when my periodisation cycle, wind direction and air density match in perfect alignment. Thanks.

I got a bit of a fright when I seen the segment name though-I have a KOM with a PRETTY similar name...at an undisclosed location.  Wouldn’t like anyone to try and take it from me-it wouldn’t be very sporting, after all of the effort I put in!

There is now a website that automates strava segment challenges, so thought i'd give it a go over the winter and see how it goes and if it works will use it for the summer one. If it works as intended i will just need to set up the stages at the start and then dont need to do anything - it will automatically take the times from club members who ride the segment and then do the scoring.
There will be 5 stages between now and Feb 28th 2019

Splendid rapid night. Well done to new guys. But the usp of this bunch was the guest appearance of one of the best riders in the world - Katie Archibald. Fantastic to ride with such a classy, powerful rider. And,  she graciously submitted to our various requests for photos, after she wiped the floor with everyone in the sprint!

Incase anyone missed it (i posted last week on another thread) no intermediate sprint points anymore to keep things a bit tidier
To replace it is now points for top 4 on Clune (4,3,2,1) and the finish  (6,4,2,1).   Will see how that goes this week may amend in the future

Another cracking night with a big bunch....all i can say is tonight is the last time i ride the Clune with any sort of panache....i am not the fat Pantani.

I volunteer to discreetly let the ‘friends of JWCC’ know the safety concerns and get their commit about the sensible ride zones as I know most of them quite well.  Separately, my vote is for apr from start as I am not too worried if a faster bunch catches an earlier group on Westferry, the faster bunch should know well to single out in that scenario and I would personally ‘vocally reinforce’ that situation,  and it would be good for early group to get clune points for example. Guys, this is just leisure remember, we must do what we can to be safe. 

Im knackered after todays ride so not looking likely for tomorrow. If Dr Ferrari pays a visit overnight i may come out and join for an hour or so before heading home, but if im not there at 9 dont wait

To make matters worse i changed my wheels just before coming out but forgot to change the spare tube in my tool bottle so only had one with a 42 mm valve, not very good for 60mm wheels. I normally have a valve extender too but couldnt find it!
Another source (i have spies everywhere) suggests Jess held on for third, so will call it a tie with her and Stevie. Good to see Billy back winning the intermediate again, won about 75% of them last year!
To make scoring a bit easier i'm going to stop the parallel scoring and just keep kom and sprint points to wheelers, non wheelers get the point for turning up so can keep track of how many are out. Current standings

About time the road got fixed

I’m trying to convince the misses that driving along with the boot lid open in the act of ultimate motor pacing is a legit segment of the week tactic. 
 
Thus far she is not buying it. 

Tapping out too. I do not like the rain. 
 
Is this the winter that will not end!? I’d be much fitter if I lived in California!
