Followed the French Skoda team car through Linwood the other day. It turned off at the Asda roundabout, and may have been heading to the MacDonalds !!! Surely not.

Dave C reacted to AlanT in Glasgow Green Cycling Club Westferry 25, 5th August
Great day for time trialling. Not a lot of wind, warm, without being hot. Clocked a 62:54, which is a season's best, still over a minute outside my pb, but happy enough, given the level of training I've been doing.
Only downside was one of my elbow pads fell off 20 minutes before the start, and then my Garmin died, so I had to do the run with no telemetry. Given the way my legs are feeling now, I'll take it as an improved performance level.

Dave C got a reaction from chung in Sunday 8th July
Four made it to the Tournament Cafe with Ken having left us at Gateside road. After scones and Empire biscuits headed back to Kilwinning and Blair Road and thanks to a diversion due to the roadworks, discoverd some new backroads with lovely new tarmac. Thanks to Boyd, Anthony and Carol for the company.

Dave C got a reaction from Roberto in Sunday 1st July Killearn (2nd attempt!)
Thanks to Paul for the route and the rest of the guys for the company. A variety of road surfaces and rural and urban scenery which all contribute to a good day out. No issues apart from an irate woman in a posh car calling Paul a bloody pest for having the temasity of being a cyciist on the road holding her up for 10seconds. Sometimes i despair of humanity.

Thanks to Richard for timekeeping in what was a brutal headwind on the way out.
It was quicker on the way back but as Kat stated you are still making the same hard effort, only going faster.

Thanks James for timekeeping. First 10 for me for about a year and thought I had cracked it when went out in 12mins. However 17mins back into the headwind brought me back to reality.
Well done to everyone else including Joseph on a PB.

Dave C reacted to Gerard Deeley in Sunday, 22nd April
Just the three of us on a nice leisurely route. Over Bowfield and then some often unusally smooth surfaced back roads to Dalgarven Mill. It was a damp and cold day and I was glad I did not wear the shorts that I first picked up in the morning. A good 60km as I had aching legs from a long couple of days at work and oddly feel less fatigued afterwards.

Dave C reacted to chung in Touring Flanders in between riding 2 Classics .....
Hi Folks,
Well, here I am in Flanders again, this will be my 4th time in 5 years & certainly will be my longest stay thus far!
Traveled from Glasgow yesterday early morning, 12 hours later I was in Brussels.
Sitting in my hotel room last night, I was thinking - why am I here?! I’m missing home already & worrying about the busy traffic outside (I’m staying just across from the Eurostar terminal & it’s not the best part of town) & if I will manage to get out of this busy city without bother All I had was my IPhones google map app & some old fashion paper map ........ I was nervous ..... & my last minute change of plan (only 2 days prior setting off) carrying 2 rear panniers instead of my original single “trunk bag” had me really worried, I only manage a wee test ride of 5 minutes around my street on Tuesday & I did not enjoy it
Needless to say, I didn’t have a very good night sleep :-/
Fortunetly, shortly after I set off from the hotel this morning, all my worries & concerns prior quickly vanished, I guess my question from the night before had been answered, once I started riding the bike, everything just felt fine ....... great even :-) That was why I was here!
Despite the busy Brussels roads, the driving & cycle paths are just first class, I felt safe & riding with the rear panniers wasn’t that bad either!
A quick detour into Geraardsbergen was a good call & definitely the only time I would be able to stop & admire the place! The App did not show were the Kapelmuur was so I stopped & asked an auld local who understandably did not speak English, but the “Muur” is famous, he apologises & appointed straight on & left, but he did warn me though :-) - Check my Strava photo please!
The Mulholland & I had planned to meet in Oudenaarde in the afternoon so I made my way there hoping to have lunch with them. As I left Geraardsbergen, I spotted a bike shop & quickly stopped & chap the door, it was shut but the man let me in anyway, I was missing a bar tape end plug (it fell off in the a Eurostar transit) & the tape was about to come loose, not ideal for tomorrow!
Anyway, he sorted me out & as I left he told me he was a pro rider, his name was Tony Bracke & use to ride for Lotto :-) I asked him did he rode with Cadel Evans :-) maybe that’s why he thought I was Australian ..... haha!
He gave me one of his old autograph card - €7 well spent!
Met up with the Muls & now back in my hotel, getting ready for tomorrow ......... & it’s raining outside :-/
Not to worry, I’m sure everything will be just fine when we start pedalling!
Cheers

Dave C got a reaction from Darryl Gunson in Langbank Hilly TT #2, Saturday 24th March
Thanks to Alan for timekeeping and John for shovin off. Good to get back out on the bike for a while , but not so good it being a time trial, as it hurts but I keep on
doing it. No pain no gain.

Dave C got a reaction from chung in Reliability Run 1, Sunday 4th Feb Tour Of Renfrewshire
Thanks to Ian for homemade soup, the others for food and to Alan T for organising. Good to meet Alan from Largs on his first Wheelers run in this country as Chung has ridden with him overseas, and i have given the discs a good clean, but they will still squeak for the rest of the winter no doubt.

Dave C reacted to chung in Reliability Run 1, Sunday 4th Feb Tour Of Renfrewshire
Last minute change of plan for me, went with the earlier 0900 Bunch as I needed to start & finish early, but I was running late so solo on chasing the Bunch, got to Bishopton before I joined the group. Great to catch up with those who I haven't seen for a while, including Alan (Charlie's friend from Largs) who I last met while riding around in Girona back in 2010 with the Wheelers! Good to see him again indeed! No mechanical at all - real bonus ......... well, apart for some squeaky disc brakes :-)
Got back to the club room but didn't hang around for the soup & social, had to head home pronto, sorry about that!
Thanks for the company & wheels today, also to AlanT for organising & the food/beverage personnel, Cheers!

Dave C got a reaction from RyanF in Majorca Trip 2018 May
We had discussed this earlier this year and now have confirmed details.
Boyd, Morna, Carol and myself have now booked a 7 day trip to Port de Pollenca , Majorca from Saturday 19th May to 26th May.
There is no sportive involved and we don't plan to cycle 300k each day, it will be more of a social cycle tour , and hopefully soaking up good weather, good roads and all the dramatic scenery that the north of the island has to offer.
We are based in the Fergus Pollensa Park Hotel and if anyone else would want to come out for the week or a few days you are more than welcome as it would be great to see the blue and yellow of the Joansin on a suuny tour.

Dave C got a reaction from BoydJohnston in Sunday 14th January
Thanks to Paul and Boyd for the company yesterday. Good to get out for a few hilly miles in dry weather.
Route as posted and no incidents except for Boyd failing miserably trying to shepherd four stray sheep back into their field above Kilmacolm .
