And kudos to Glenn & Scott who were so keen they headed back to Dunlop for extra miles after cresting Dalek Brae-we did try to shout you but our cries were drowned out by the roar of your competitive fires

    Hi All,
Was round seeing Anne, she is bearing up amazing well. The funeral is likely to be Friday morning 10:30 at clydebank crematorium (possibly Tuesday but doubtful) she will confirm exact details (times/ location) once they have confirmed on Monday then onto Amaretto (availability dependant) afterwords, she was wondering about numbers so if you could maybe give me an indication how many are likely to attend as she wasn't sure if amaretto would be big enough and I can feed back. She was saying how she likes to see the pictures of Alex that she hadn't seen before etc. I had printed of the messages and photographs from the posts as thought it would be good for her to read the stories and see the photographs to see how much he was loved within the group.
I was thinking it would be nice to put together some sort of photo book to give her and I am happy to organise if everyone ok with that. If anyone would like to email me a photograph/s and a caption about the photograph/ photographs? my email is "[email protected]" - Let me know your thoughts on this if you think is a good idea?

Anne Baird contacted me earlier today with the sad news of Alex's Passing in Hospital this morning. Anne has asked to let the Johnstone Wheelers know and  said she will pass the details of funeral arrangements as soon as possible and I will post up.

Cracking day, lumpy route after Troon, legs were shot to bits by the end ... need to ditch the social life, or at least make it a Friday night ...
welcome to the club Scott, he brought the car to Johnstone, in case he was too gubbed to cycle home  fit as a butchers dug

Great outing today & welcome  to newbie Scott Johnstone . Good brisk pace to Troon lovely cafe stop @ Blueberry cafe then anew way back. Symington tarbolton road then Galston( with a couple of wrong turns on the way) anyway thought it was a cracking road to Galston & should do it again. Martin &davy left us at Galston leaving me to struggle up transmitter hill & cemetery climb with the skinny boys). Brief stop just outside Moscow then on to Dunlop . Glen popped in to local pub & got 5 cans of coke & 5 scones which were for bingo night. ( bingo punters will b unhappy tonight as only getting a half eaten gel) coke & scones did the trick & we all got back

Lots of really good information and replies...
But Ian said more or less all that needed to be said in the post title "Take care of each other!"
I honestly don't see any issue, last night was a prime example of bad Driving and excellent Cycling(in the fact we all stayed upright).  I have had more close calls cycling on my own than in group rides, maybe I should pull over and let the cars go by?
"Individuals take part in any group rides at their own risk. Johnstone Wheelers and its club members accept no responsibility for the safety of anyone participating in group rides, and no liability in the event of an accident."

Input from a newbie, have been enjoying the chaingang in the current format and feel it is great for bringing you on, I feel it’s really helping me along both with advice from all the other riders and fitness etc which in turn helps me in the bunch. The neutralisation zones are a welcome addition as surfaces are terrible and seem to be workng well and give me a moment to catch my breath. Granted there has been a few incidents  with drivers however I feel we would still have that issue if not more in 2 or 3 groups. The quick briefing pre start worked well a few weeks ago, maybe having each week might be an idea to see if there are any concerns about that evening ie, the current weather conditions may suggest quick regroup after certain areas where coming off is highly likely.  Also if anyone has any input of current spills etc on the route
Safety in numbers! There are a lot of people out there who are exceptionally bad drivers and others  who simply detest cyclists.
loving the chaingang! However love when it’s finished!
