Huge thanks to Ian McT for timekeeping and to David Cowan for marshalling at the turn. Congrats to Ian for the win on the day. No PBs on today’s course, since we turned before Houston, but didn’t seem to make it any less hard.
The gentle spin back to Amaretto’s for coffee and rolls was very welcome.
I have transferred £15 to the club account.

The hilly TT championship is normally run over three events, with points awarded for 1st , 2nd and 3rd in each race. This year has been different, so this years Hilly TT championship will be decided on the basis of 1 event, held on 28th August, decided on first past the post.
09:45 meet in Langbank for 10:00 off, post up if you’re coming along. As usual, we need a volunteer to timekeep on the day.

There are roadworks in Houston village, due to be cleared on Friday 27th, so keep an eye on the bunch to confirm this is actually the case.
On the upside, it means some new, smooth tarmac through the village.

Just read that Eileen has won another Olympic medal in the tandem pursuit at the Paralympics. Congratulations to Eileen, who many of you will remember is a past member of JWCC. I have fond memories of some of the runs when she and Denis (White) turned out on the tandem. Chapeau!

If the village is shut we could slightly shorten the rout and turn at the closed sign

Ok, so three teams, at least 2 of which were put together on line took part on another balmy summer’s evening, with a light headwind out.
    Scott and Stefan 18:58
Alan and Gerard 17:28 Both paid
    James and Sam 15:52 Jets
Special thanks to Scott for partnering Stefan on his first run out on a TT, never mind a team TT.
And to Iain Couttie for timekeeping on the night after a late puncture forced his withdrawal.
I have transferred £6 to the club account.

I believe that a number of Jets apart from Sam have entered. Given how well they’re going in the Georgetown league, I think they’ll do a job.

Set off nice & early this morning from my house & got to the clubroom 0855 ...... not a soul to be seen except from a few dog walkers .... oops, have I got the time/date wrong? ........ so rode round the Miller Street estate as I didn't fancy standing on my toad ..... luckily by the time I came back, there were 13 fellow club mates had already turned up waiting ...... phew!
So, 14 of us - Alan T, Ali M, Andy R & James R (Jets), Anthony, Carol M, Carol & David, Frank, Gary, Graham, Jullie, Mitch & myself set off for sunny Troon!
Working well together & setting a nice pace where everyone was comfortable ..... A few stronger riders decided to take longer spells, which was no doubt welcome by some and me especially 🙂 I only manage ONE turn on the front all day ....... riding on the front is so over-rated anyway 🙂
It wasn't as lumpy as last week but still some drags in parts ..... Jullie left us in Kilmeurs, leaving 13 to continue on our way to Troon!
The blueberry Cafe is always one of my favourite, great baking & proper china for my tea ..... how posh! Service was great and quick too considering there were 13 hungry cyclist all wanting fed at the same time!
By the time we left the place the weather has gone much warmer too, so off comes the layers to enjoy the sun a bit.
The return leg just continue on where we left off earlier ...... I think Alan & Graham just sat on the front all the way back to the Bowfield before Ali made an attacked which was followed by young James, everyone then joined in and the descend down the Bowfield (second Sunday running) was fantastic ...... a wee regrouping at the bottom & we rode all the way back to the Johnstone again as we started in the morning!
Brilliant run again organised by David & Alan for leading on the return leg 🙂
Thanks to all for the wheels & company today ...... another cracker!
Cheers & thanks for reading ..... now for some photies courtesy of Carol & Graham

£9.00 has been transferred to the club account, with Dom and Dave both owed £2 as I had no change.
Huge congratulations to Sam on winning the Frank Lauder 10 mile TT championship. I think he may be the first Jet to do so, but if someone out there knows differently, I am happy to stand corrected.

This event is open on Cycling Time Trials website. We’ve done well in the in the past two years of the event taking place thanks to the efforts of a few bold riders ( you know who you are!) . Time to get another podium finish. Get your entries in.
I’ve entered in the Flying Scot category, so my time is unlikely to count towards a team finish, not that it would have counted anyway assuming enough of the fast boys sign up.

Lovely evening all in for me.  Met Elaine Muirhead on the way to the Westferry.  Posted a decent time with a really steady effort in great conditions and all the luck with the traffic.  Big thank you to Alan for timekeeping tonight too.  Nice wee bonus beer afterwards with Alan and the Cowans.  I also could not forget our new potential recruit to the Wheelers!?

The closer this event gets, the more I’m thinking that riding it is a really bad idea. Happy to help out with whatever needs done, and I can bring a pop up gazebo if it’s needed.
