Emma MacLaren got a reaction from chung in Bellahouston Crit Race
    Hello,
So I'm organising a crit race at Bellahouston Park on the 1/10/16 with Glasgow University Cycling.
    BC link: https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/147980/Glasgow-University-Student-Crits

I'm currently really struggling to get a first aider within the university club, so I'd be really grateful if anyone here is a qualified first aider and free on Saturday 1/10?

Also the women's race is open to all women, not just students, and could really do with some more entries. So it would be really great if the women in the club could enter - there's loads of prizes available and it's not a difficult course to race on if you've never raced before, and it should be a really fun race.

    Thanks!

So the BUCS track champs were in Manchester at the weekend. I'm pretty happy with how all my races went. Saturday the only event I was doing was individual pursuit, which due to a lack of time, they cut down form 3 to 2.5k. I was hoping to get a 4.10 for 3k, and ended up getting 3.31 for 2.5k which placed me 8th, so I think if I had held my pace for another two laps I should have got 4.11-12. Only first and second managed to go below 4 minutes this year with 3.57 and 3.58, and third and fourth got 4.05 and 4.10 in their medal rides over 3k. Sunday was team sprint and points. I hadn't practised team sprint in a few months so didn't know what to expect, but we rode a pb with 39.6 and qualified fourth which put us into the minor final. Sarah my team mate was then given some race wheels for the bronze ride off, however she pulled the rear, and we weren't given a restart so had to settle for fourth overall. Then onto the points race, only 40 laps, but the bunch seemed a bit nervous, and i think there was a few inexperienced riders. There was quickly a big crash taking out 5-7 girls, I think they were all fine after a while, and some rejoined the bunch. Then with 13 laps to go another two went down right in front of me on the banking. Once the race restarted I managed to get on a wheel and cross the line third, picking up 2 points and finishing 7th overall.
So overall I thought it was a good weekend of racing with a good number of Scottish riders picking up medals, and a particularly well contested women's sprint event, which for the first time went to 1/8 rounds rather than just finals. I just want to say thanks for the use of the club disc for the pursuit and team sprint, and for Billy's training plans and advice, and I'm looking forward to improving on these times and racing more throughout the year.

Really great race today! Jan and myself were out amongst over 40 other women on the start line! Glasgow riderz did a really good job holding the event and found the coaching session really useful too. pretty flat course, so fast but still with some good muddy sections. Think I finished 4th overall too! Hopefully there will be more coaching/racing days throughout the year like today and the one last week, definitely want to race cyclocross next winter now.

enjoyed getting back to racing last night. think i managed to get third in the first point race. sat in the bunch in second scratch. felt better for last race so move up in last lap thinking i might get third, but crossed the line and saw there were a few more riders off the front so think i finished 5th or 6th.
