carol cowan got a reaction from ginty001 in 30 Milers, 18th May
30 milers this week consisted of Ken, Anthony, Carol and Dave and headed up the Bowfield, then left turn along back roads to Uplawmoor, Lugton, Dunlop and Stewarton. Cafe stop at the Limegreen coffee shop which is very bike friendly even allowing bikes in shop for safety.
Returned to Lugton and then past Greenacres and down Bowfield and home via Kilbarchan for 39miles. Thanks to Ken for the route and Anthony for the company and we never had one drop of rain...honestly. Dave & Carol

carol cowan got a reaction from gregbalden in 27th april - Main bunch run with intermediate and 30 miler bunches welcome!!
Thanks to Greg for the combined bunches idea. The run down to the ferry was fast and furious... I thought we heade
d for the 9.30am ferry at times, but all good training. Met up with Ken at the ferry and me,Dave,John, Karen, Ken and newbie John decided to take the straight flat route to Strachur. After the brisk warm up on the way down we made good progress up Loch Eck and made the cafe in about 45mins. Waited a while after coffee and cakes and bacon rolls but no sign of the other groups so headed back in glorious sunshine. Good to run on smooth quiet roads and smashing scenery. Toyed with going back Whistlefield high road but bit of a headwind made decision to carry on. Left Ken at ferry as he was wanting more miles so five headed back to Gourock and then up the Clune...bit of a struggle for my old legs but made it home with 75miles on clock. Great day out and well done to all....should do it again in future. Carol and Dave :banana

carol cowan got a reaction from Darryl Gunson in Rothesay APR 22nd September
Tough going in the novice race as the pace was fast from the off and Mount Stuart hill is just a killer if you are off the back as it turns into a mainly solo time trail for the rest of the race. Finished about 3/4 down the field in fairly respectable time. First three home were teenage boys who looked about 7 stone soaking wet. Carol was the first vet lady home and won a prize again. Dave

carol cowan got a reaction from thomkirk46 in 30 milers 12/05/13
A good route made difficult by poor weather. Well done to all for making it all the way. Hope James and Tam are ok after their spill on the track after Lochwinnoch. Carol could not unclip her helmet when home as fingers frozen...is this the month of May !!. Won't be out next week as work commitments.
