Richie Cross reacted to George in Fred Whitton Challenge 2017
Should not pose any problems to the bison.
I might do some training but, should I not, natural ability will suffice.
Being this awesome is great.

Richie Cross reacted to Paul C in Sunday 29th - Eglington Country Park (+ any intermediates)
Had to walk 100 m from house to get on gritted road!
After that no problem with ice.
Graeme, Boyd and me had a good steady run to Eglington Park for café stop.
Café is excellent with lots of space for a bunch invasion.
Scrambled egg roll was very good and Graeme was impressed with the amount of bacon in his roll (Chung please note! ).
On the way back it had warmed up a bit and the sun was starting to break through.
Towards the end I peeled off to do an extra loop and got 52 miles in the bag.

Is this the correct forum? I'm looking to buy a compact and an 11-32 cassette. Anyone?

Just spoke to the hostel people. Bookings are opened up once the results of the lottery are known.

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect everyone to comply with my demands.
Strava, Zwift & public toilets are killing ye olde club run.

Compact group, consisting of me & me only headed along the increasingly foggy track to Kilbirnie & through thick fog over the Largs Road.
No stop in the BB as I had no-one to chat to-did notice a large group of Paisley Velo as I passed by.
Over Brisbane & up the Whinn & home.
Disappointed by the lack of support for what used to be a well supported ride & wondering how it would look to any prospective members who turned up?

First club run for a while, nice to see new faces, then realised it's just the same lot but a year older.

Richie Cross reacted to EricL in STRAVA - it's official!
As many of you already know there now exists the JWCC 'official' Strava page. This is a new page built towards the end of 2016 to provide active 'Wheelers' with a single club-managed site to record all of your rides and see posts of certain upcoming club runs and events.
The new Strava page has all of our known 'Wheelers' contact details and web links to places such as FB and British Cycling where members and joiners can find out more about the Club.
Unlike the old site the admins are controlled by Club members, more administrators can be added as required, this has enabled the posting of upcoming events and club rides. Now that we have entered 2017 you may have recently noticed details of the 1st Reliability were posted and everyone who has joined JWCC 'official' page should have received an invitation to attend. It is now possible to register an interest in joining the event by simply clicking on a button under the Group Event notice.
It would be good to have all, or most, of our current membership operating on the one Strava page, there are currently 45 members of the new JWCC 'official' Strava but still c80 on the old one. You are not obliged to do so, but if you want to receive information on club events and keep an eye on your friends (or enemies) achievements then why not join JWCC - official for 2017 and you can then leave the old pages.....it's simple...
...follow the yellow JWCC badge!

Just a wee heads up about entry details. Reserved places for those willing to raise £250 for charity are now open. For the rest - individual or group entries - the system is open from 9th January, for a couple of weeks.

Can you not clean yourself? Charlie could always give you a wipe down.

Yes!! I was using an iPad but today I bought an adapter to use from my phone to plug into a wee 20" tv I bought!!
Make sure you click on the Everest challenge early doors. That's how you get the Tron bike. Takes a loooong time apparently.
Read someone saying recently how they'd completed the required 50,000ft or whatever it is, of climbing but they didn't have the bike.
They hadn't joined the challenge so they'll be doing it all again!!!

Managed to complete it yesterday as the challenge started on the 24th. All for a little woven patch and and a chance to win a custom moots bike!

Lovely to be back out on the road again. And with a great JWCC turn out too! After 30 miles the twinges started so played it safe and headed for home. A nice 50 miles, yule log and hot bath. Not a bad start to the day!

Yes Ritchie. I see no reason why we couldn't do the official thing if we get in and also the club away day as well. I would do it. Also, as a last resort for a team that failed the normal route, there may be the charity option that Alex said he'd lead on. I haven't myself read the fine detail of that tho.
cheers

Fred Whitton chat concluded the following:
1. those that want to do the official route on 7th May will enter as 4 man teams. So, there is some organisation to be done. I will be applying for one group, but the onus is on the rest to do likewise.
2. there may be a JWCC away day as well. tbc
3. Alex may lead on a charity entry if people don't get on via the team lottery. Again tbc.

Did Mountain 8 on Watopia last night!!
Jeez! Think it was best part of 5 miles of climbing.
Pretty realistic as I was doing my usual 8mph on the steep bits
Really liking it
