Guys,
I just happened to receive an email from one Sir Paul Smith, here's what he said:
"Dear Wheelers,
I was lucky enough to have a sneak preview (since im so connected in this industry) of your glorious new kit, I must congratulate on having such a fine design. I like it so much that I'm contemplating on ditching Rapha and go in partnership with you guys. Just slap my name on it and we can sell it for treble the price.
Please give me a call!"
The excitement is killing people, Mark! :-)
Cheers

Any idea roughly how many over a 10?

chung reacted to Richard in Wanted: Kinesis mech hanger
Dunno about boring. You were definitely pithier.
The saved pound went to the cost of a new rear mech. The cage was touching the spokes because it was indeed bent. In fact, I suspect the cage was bent before the hanger sheared. It was probably the source of all the problems in the first place. Reading yesterday's reliability thread, it looks like February 'tis the season for sheared hangers.
This all means that the Wheels number 42 dropout probably is an adequate replacement for the official Kinesis hanger. I've got one going cheap if anyone wants it - only £15.

I heard throught the grape vine that someone actually once fell off while he was turboing ........ surely that cannae be true?! :-)

Well, today was certainly a real "reliability" test for the bikes! 2 sheared rear mech hanger, and one snapped chain........ Oh, and a punctures thrown in for good measure :-)
Group of 8 in the 9.30am group, first timer - Will from BoW joining us in this madness, apparently he enjoyed it today.
Making good progress all the way to Sinclair street riding as a group proper, disaster struck just coming out of Duck Bay with Paul's rear mech shearing off due to a combination of falling off earlier on the track which probably bent the hanger & gunky chain. Spend a good 15 minutes at least converting it into a single speed. The 10 am group arrived just as we finished, so a welcome tow by them from Alexandra to the Bridge was very welcomed.
Incident free until we got to Langbank where Alan Foxy had a puncture and Mark snapped his rear mech as well further up the road.
Eventually got back to the club room with soup, pizza, rolls & cakes waiting, magic!
Thoroughly enjoyed it today, hope everyone got home ok. Especially Paul as he had another machincal coming into Dumbarton, hope you're home safely!
Well done to Will, our guest rider & Emma for hanging in there towards the end, great effort!
Thanks for the wheels guys & girl, also to the banquet suppliers - big thumbs up!
P.S Get your bikes fixed and in tip top condition for next weeks West Kilbride run, that's what these Reliability Runs are designed for!
Cheers

Great ride today with a well disciplined 9.30 bunch. Good to meet Will and see Emma and Andy out.
Every day's a school day with Chung. We learned how to turn a bike into a single gear, that Paul has a manky chain and how to carry out a fruitless chase of a car which can go much faster than a bike. Seriously Chung I never fail to learn something useful from you, just excellent.
Thank you Billy for having the soup and pizza ready for us. You make a gracious host!

Thanks to all the well wishers, luckily I'm ok apart from a few grazes & bruises along the left side
Got a quick & professional diagnose from our our team doctor - Dr. McLean who gave me the all clear, nothing broken thank Merckx!
Apologies to Charlie for causing you almost running onto the kerb, no doubt you were too busy admiring my "professional slide" (that's according to Darryl) :-)
Thanks also to everyone who offered to gave me a lift home, no less than 5 offers I may add!
You guys are a caring & generous bunch so you are!
Really appreciate the wheels from everyone today in what was another minging day!
Please let's have better weather next Sunday!
Cheers

Just about dried myself & cleaning the bike now!
It was indeed a hard run, the sun eventually showed itself along Paisley road west on my way home! :-)
Thanks for the wheels chaps & special thanks to Jann & Jane for the soup, rolls & cakes - which were lovely. Also to the guys who supplied the filled rolls too.
Good to see some long absent faces again, a great turn out even on such a dodgy morning. Well done everyone!
Cheers

I think if Mul is using his car and Iain his along with Alan that should be enough
That's assuming Muls mate wants to travel with us lot
Now all we need is confirmation of the above and allocating 4 to each car
Me trying to organise things would suggest
Mul Charlie Grieg plus Muls Mate and Toms bike for one car
Alan Chung Mark Paul plus 4 bikes
And Iain Couttie his friend me and Al plus 4 bikes
Only a proposal what you think

chung reacted to Mark O in Main Bunch 5th Jan 2014
1st Sunday run of the New Year. Woooo! only 4 weeks until he first reliability of the year.
Almost full Coast in reverse (if icy we'll revert to the normal route heading for Bishy first)
Depart Miller Street 09.15 as the mornings are still darkish. Proposed route is
Track to Lochwinnoch then main road (A737) to Beith, turning for Gateside and then Barrmill. Top side of the Barrmill circuit and onto Kilwinning and the 3 Towns (Stevenston, Ardrossan and Saltcoats) All steady pace! (high teens in line with of late)
Up the coast thru W. Kilbride, Fairlie and onto Largs. Pace here will be upped slightly - not daft speeds but brisk (20-25 or thereabouts) on the flats with a tail wind no doubt. Longer turns for stronger riders but keeping the bunch together. Habble into Largs if safe. Expect to work a little and hang on if necessary from Fairlie. If we go through Bishy first the the pace will go up after the climb at Wemyss Bay.
BB for cafe stop, then steady again up the coast as far as the Westferry and Bishy. Stronger riders to the front on the Westferry with the aim of maintaining a strong but NOT eyeballs out pace, with a regroup if required at the roundabout before the climb up to Bishy. Habble at Bishy if desired and if legs allow.
This is NOT a training ride, it remains a club run with the bunch keeping together and the usual rules for mechanicals, hill top regroups and bust riders being brought back to the bunch applying. The aim is to allow the regular main bunchers a good run but at the same time let those training for sportives, events or racing a bit of a work out without it all falling to bits on the road. It is intended to be only marginally more challenging than what we've been doing of late and completely doable for all those that have been out regularly during Nov and Dec. This is in no way a ride people off the bunch and into the ground exercise.
I'm intentionally being pedantic and spelling this out so that everyone knows what is happening. If you're fit and going well expect to work for longer at the front but not necessarily harder. If less fit expect to work a little harder than of late but on shorter turns and to be looked after and sheltered as necessary.
Who is riding?
Skinny
PS Charlie, no route changes will be considered, so there!
