Hi everyone

I've been looking at the possibility of going on Tour TransAlp next year.

Anyone fancy a week in the Alps?

The overview for 2016 is pasted below.

The TOUR Transalp powered by Sigma 2016 is the most famous and spectacular amateur stage race across Europe. A stage race for teams-of-two, with its unique structure and organization leads in seven day stages across the Alps and Dolomites. The TOUR Transalp is the original of this format of alpine crossing and goes into its fourteenth round next year. Years of experience have produced the improved quality as well as the sophisticated organization and event structure.

More than 1.200 participants can once again look forward to a challenging and exciting routing in 2016. The track with a total of 897 km, 19.446 meters in altitude and 22 breathtaking passes leads from Imst in Austria to Riva del Garda, Italy. The first stage goes directly to Brixen in Südtirol. Although the Kühtai has been a classic of the TOUR Transalp for some time, this year, however, the participants have to ride this pass in the opposite direction for the first time. From Brixen, the field of riders moves further to San Vigilio. The route will then lead into the heart of the Dolomites on a breathtaking „Sellaronda“, counterclockwise. On the third stage, from San Vigilio to Sillian, four passes are climbed in the Dolomites – the Furkelpass, Lago di Misurina, Passo Sant´Antonio and Kreuzbergpass. The fourth stage from Sillian to Fiera di Primiero also has four passes to offer. After three full days in the Dolomites, the route continues from Fiera di Primiero to Crespano del Grappa. For a change of scenery, the field of riders moves at the foot of the Dolomites along the southern flank of the Alps into the realm of the prosecco vines. Challenging passes such as the Croce d´Aune Pass, the little San Boldo Pass and the Monte Tomba round off this route. The sporting highlight of the TOUR Transalp 2016 waits for you on day six – with the royal stage, which will once more demand everything from the bikers. Here the route leads from Crespano del Grappa across the panoramic passes Monte Grappa and Cima di Campo to the penultimate stage location Levico Terme. Even if the final stage is a bit shorter, one should not underestimate this stage with 2.500 meters in altitude after all. A refreshing reward is waiting for the participants at the Finish in Riva del Garda. After seven tough and exciting stages everybody can cool off at Lake Garda, relaxing and enjoying the many impressions of the last few days.
