Guest GEORGE DONNELLY
Full report required I think top 20 finish for both is on the cards Erm, not quite. Chas & I set off in group two, riding into a gale. Group was working ok in a thru & off formation & I felt quite comfortable. A couple of gaps opened but I was able to close them quite easily. Over a couple of stiff wee hills & feeling ok then DISASTER! Shifted to wee ring only for chain to unship. Took so long to put it back on that even Charlie passed me Got going again but by this time group 3 had caught me so i sat in with them. Bits of chasing groups caught & passed us until a group of 5 remained. We got to the end of the 1st lap when, to a man, they all turned off for the changing rooms. Faced with a 20 mile solo in that wind I decided to do the same. Disappointed but I was going ok so not too disheartened. Had to wait A-G-E-S for Charlie to finish. Think he stopped for a cuppa in the Rob Roy Hotel!

2023 Subscriptions charlie p Posted March 24, 2013 Author 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted March 24, 2013 Tough day on bike today but good yo get race miles in legs. G and I started in group 2 chain gang into easterly wind both did our share then left turn and fast twisty downhill section. I was a bit wimpy here and bunch broke up. Worked with those around me and ended up on second lap going round with some guys from pedal power and a couple of girls from deeside cc. Got back and had tea and cake with my new cycle chums. Once done found George huffing in the car

Committee Alan McLean Posted March 26, 2013 Committee Report Share Posted March 26, 2013 Charlie and George, well done, the finishing gaps showed how horrible that must have been. I can just see little groups of riders fighting the wind while I was in the big, warm hoydrome.
Guest GEORGE DONNELLY
Wind was bad but zipp 404 front/808 back just made it ridiculous. Just got my 303's fixed so will be using these for my other road race pastings this year.
