  1. Cracking route, that will be a tough but rewarding day. Too long for 10th March for me, but can do week after
  2. Met office yellow warning literally just issued for snow & ice 7 - 11am. Turbo for me. See yous next week
  3. Sounds like a plan. Although forecast is totally putting me off at the moment. Will make a decision in the morn
  4. 3rd March is my wife's birthday so I'm not going to make it out that day unfortunately. Unless I buy her an amazing birthday present (which ain't going to happen)
  5. Sorting out my access hopefully within the next week or so. Not sure who is responsible for them in the meantime but noticed the Strava club post earlier today so at least that's there
  6. First time doing this (properly!). Planning on trying out the fast group.
  7. Was a bit dubious about heading out in the wind but then it's direction reminded me of a segment I could have a bash at attempting to claim so rode up the bottom of Auchenlodment before we met at Club Rooms. This wee effort paid off with a KoM (sorry Gary K! ). Fairlie windy ride, but that wind was bitingly cold at times... glad I had the hand & foot warmers on!! Wasn't a fan of the ice in a few places! Met the wife, sis in law and dog in Largs. Nutters out in the cold lol!! Well done on the hills, that was over 1500m of climbing for a January run... kudos!!
  8. Thoroughly enjoyed that today. Pace suited me perfectly. I know it's the 'same old' route to Largs but it makes a big difference when you're in a good, well drilled bunch. When are we going back there again
  9. I can see John C's efforts under Activity but can't see him on the leaderboard for this segment? https://segmentchallenge.com/challenges/jwcc-winter-segment-challenge/netherton-rd-hill-climb/leaderboards
  10. Wow.. I am gubbed! I was a little unsure of heading out in that wind, but glad I pressed on and got out there. Thought we all worked really well together into the wind, which was proper tough at points... then of course en route back from Balmaha the expected tailwind wasn't even half as strong as expected, and provided little benefit. Mention for Mr Carvill who wasn't feeling great on the way back but pressed on and applied #Rule5 appropriately I ended up coming off cornering on a drain cover at the end of my street 30secs from my house ffs but no damage other than a slightly bent bar which I straightened again. Overall a great but tiring trip. I do fancy that again in the summer all the way to Rowardennan
  11. Guys, just checking the route... is it something along these lines? So going through Renton & Alexandria on the way there and Bonhill on the way back?: https://www.strava.com/routes/16761604
  12. Met Office showing 40mph gusts around lunchtime, v windy day. Will see how it pans out rest of the week, canny trust the weather at the moment lol

    Spied a Wheeler

Around 1.30pm - 2pm today, cycle path Paisley (at Elderslie end), was walking dog (stick in his mouth lol), Wheeler passed. Wasn't sure who it was
  14. Be good to get a rough route plotted incase I'm on the front and miss or take wrong turn. Is it along the lines of... up the Bowfield, Lugton, Torranyard, Stewarton, Dodside Road to Barrhead but turning towards Neilston and back to Johnstone via Gleniffer Braes/Auchenlodment?
  15. Sounds good. Shall we try that new cafe which used to be ‘Jacks’ in Stewarton?

    CTT Events

Hi, Has anyone heard anything about the Galston Hilly TT? It was cancelled last year... can’t see anything about it this year... Thanks, Colin

    Spied a Wheeler

Around 2.30-3pm on cycle track at Linwood, I'm coming up the hill towards the bridge, girl with blonde hair in Wheelers top going down said hill with another cyclist (not with JW kit on).
  18. Thoroughly enjoyed that today. Good pace, tidy bunch, wasn't so sure about the climb as already had 200 miles in the legs this week but made it. Shame about the slow service at Corries. Ended up going to Bridge Of Weir and taking cycle track to Lochwinnoch (halfway to Kilbirnie) and got 95 miles done (153km in real money) so completed Festive 500 (third attempt at it!). Happy days!
  19. Hi, I'm considering a long-ish cycle on Friday. Probably do either Largs route (the opposite way we usually do it) (60 miles) so up the coast and home via West Ferry) or extend it and get ferry from Gourock to Kilcreggan and head back from there (80 miles). Open to other similar distance (and flattish) suggestions. Earlier the start, the better tbh so was looking at 9am from clubrooms/Morrisons, with quick cafe stop. Let me know if any of you fancy it. Thanks, Colin.
