    It’ll be snowing.
No point getting your hopes up.
Another day plunked in front of the telly, eating biscuits & lying to yourself that you’ll go turbo “in 10 minutes”
You won’t. Life is an empty husk full of broken promises & rash purchases from Wiggle.

Racing shortened a bit tonight with a crash in the warm up. First up was a short scratch, didnt do anything all race. Next was a longer scratch, race was in pieces so got quite complicated working out who was on the lead lap and who wasnt. ended up 4th...should have made my sprint effort earlier, thought i could come round at least a couple of riders coming out of turn 4 but couldnt do it. Last was a points, got a point and was hoping to get a break going but didnt happen then for the final sprint with about 5  to go someone attacked - I was on the front and should have responded immediately but decided to swing up and leave it another lap or two, but by then lost the opportunity. Bit disappointed with that one felt i had the legs to do better.

Once again, it's the start of the Confined Event TT series. This is the first trophy of the season up for grabs to the fastest rider on the day.
2 laps of a hilly route with some challenging turns and a terrific descent. An excellent introduction to time trialling for beginners, as well as a decent warm up for the more experienced.
There will be a short ride down to Castle Semple after the run for tea and scones, those with pointy hats riding at the front
As normal, there will be a £3 entry fee, payable on the day, the proceeds going towards the costs of the awards at the end of the season.
    The course:

Please note that the start point has been moved to the duck pond where parking is better and traffic is slower. This should make the start a little safer for everyone.
Meet at the start at 09:45 ready for first rider off at 10:00.
I will drive the route on Friday night to ensure that it is clear of snow and ice.
I do not intend to defend my title on this race as I have not yet fully recovered from fatal manflu, so I will be there to hold or timekeep. 1 more volunteer is required for officiating.
I will post the Risk Assessment on Friday.
I will bring some cable ties.

and finally, it is Mothers Day, so don't forget to take your mum some flowers after the race.

This is the most important event of 2018(excluding SAs and DAs) are we allowing skinsuits this year?

    It is getting close!
Just a heads up i'm intending to change things a bit this year to try and keep the competition a bit closer. I made it out most weeks last year which resulted in getting an large lead by the end of July. This meant if someone missed a few weeks with injury or if they occassionally had commitments other than cycling on a Thursday night then they were pretty much out of the running.
So rather than it taking place over the whole summer it will now be a monthly competition. There will be an April winner (first one of the season will likely be 29 March which will be added to April scores, May, June, July and August). September we can decide when it happens - there were only a couple chaingangs in September last year and one of them was up and down the Georgetown a couple of times.
Unless the road surface is repaired then i dont think the Houston 30 is suitable anymore for an intermediate sprint. Perhaps move to the Georgetown where the road is smooth (and wider) towards the reception centre entrance. This is close to the finish so gives a choice - sit in and save it for the finish or go for this sprint and risk not having time to recover before the end.
Once the daylight allows the route will vary between usual west ferry and the sewing bee route. Because i know how much you all enjoy that drag from Stewarton

Fun night. Full lights on, timing wires and scoreboard working with results...unheard of! As for the racing - usual story, first race didnt bother with the sprint too far back and too many bodies in the way. 2nd was a scratch, had a couple of attacks group thinned out and nicely placed just before the bell and then not sure what happened - i was accelerating into the sprint and someone swung up into me (im not sure what caused this, as it was to my side. Anyway i had momentum and my front wheel was in front so he bounced off and hit the deck. Couldnt avoid it didnt see it happen only felt the impact.  Ended up 2nd, but  i didnt really sprint. Should have won. Next was points, off the front in a 4, got 3rd in one sprint, i continued on then couple bridged we had about half a lap at one point and i was 2nd in next eventually caught then didnt do anything in the last sprint. And with double points in that it usually means all the effort early for nothing! Last was devil, same tactic ive been trying to do all winter could hold onto the bell but couldnt  kick again and contest the sprint ended up 2nd.

Cedric looking good in the As, a win in the devil and a 3rd place in the scratch.

Ginty a display of Hamoc proportions . Second time in a month that bunch had to wait for u to sort out mechanicals. Both freezing days as well but yesterday was impressive. Bike washed left out in freezing conditions then brakes seize when u join us. Tell us to wait whilst u change bikes but have to change shoes as well as different cleats. We cycle about for 10 mins to keep warm only for u to return with same bike as other one had a puncture but u have now poured hot water over brakes to unseize  them but surprise surprise by time u get to top of Bishy Hill they have frozen again.
I see u were 3rd time lucky with the antifreeze
    excellent Hamoc  performance
