PaulL reacted to martin in Sunday 17th Reliability #3 Sinclair Street
Jets had a blast this morning. Thanks to all in the 9.00 bunch for making them so welcome despite their tender years aka making sure they did their fair share of work :-)

9pm bunch about 20?? 7 Jets giving a lesson on how to ride your bike... Golfers/Runners take notes. Never saw the 9.30 bunch until soup time which was Delicious thanks Sarah and Greg! Rumors were the 9.45 were masquerading as the 9.30s as some 9.30s hide in the 9.00??? next week im in the 9.15 group;) Great ride today

Planning on joining the 9 o'clock gang. Bringing 4 or 5 jets to put on the front and pull us along.

I'm in.
I can provide the morning opening and Sarah ( the Mrs) can open up and heat up some soup.
I can also commission a pot of Nana's magic soup, with a little chili, if this suits most?
Votes on a post card, please.
Finally, what sort of time does said soup be required to be hot?

Good wee run out today apart from broken chain and clunky gears. Bike in being repaired so hopefully ready for next Sunday. Enjoyed the coffee and chat as always Darryl.
Hope Mia for back okay after her mechanical and thanks to everyone who helped me with my broken chain. Was also nice to see some new female faces in the bunch today

Good ride and a couple of big groups today, the slush and ice was strangely only really east of Stewarton for about mile towards Fenwick - on the way back we took a slight detour to avoid it (and also thorns on the road from the hedge cutting) but it was slushy there too. But Moscow circuit and elsewhere was fine.

Hi Alan,
It was indeed a debate that I had with myself for a while, but in the end I chose these lovely White Industries hubs, they are beautifully made & bearings are smooth as butter ...... but it ain't cheap though :-0
The problem is the frame & old parts are porky, the frame + fork alone is a hefty 2.5kg , so I have to save weight on the wheels. Trying to get the whole bike under 8kg, not optimistic though. With Campag hubs only offering 32h as it's lowest (now & in the past, disregarding factory built wheels of course) plus the new ones only comes in black.
I really wanted shiny silver hubs with low spoke count (these being 20 front & 24 rear) so these WI fits the bill perfectly (upon recommendation from Richard M) Front radial laced & rear 3 cross, I just hope they'll be as good as I make them out to be
By the way, I'm running tubular rims with these ........ your favourite wheel subject I know ....... I should have these wheels built by next week (not me, getting a proper bike mechanic to build it) & hopefully the whole bike finished by then too.
It's been a fairly long process. But like you said earlier, I'm going to feel "sad" & lost once it's finished, so I'm stretching it out as long as possible, but at the same time I want it finished sooner rather than later .......... isn't life a b*tch?
Cheers

Late, sensible decision to call off the reliability this morning.
Thanks to all who made the effort to turn up, and who brought food with them.
Hopefully the weather will be better next week.

Aye she rode a perfect race and looked very strong even in a drag race with runner up who, pit issue aside, made too many errors throughout, most races she comes from behind and then just rides away but not today.

Aiming to be out with the 09.30 group. Won't be a race Karen. Hopefully the group will stick together, even on the ascents and ensure no one limps back to Miller Street on their own.
Fully expect the 09.45 group to make the catch somewhere between Kilmalcolm and Lochwinnoch.
