I should be there to slow everybody else down.

Sorry, Graham. I would have come down, but I've got to go to Bathgate to help out with some babysitting, so I'll be cycling in the other direction tomorrow.
My son in Bathgate is getting married on the 6th October, so family preparations are in full swing and my life is not my own at the moment - though I did get to play golf today while the boss was returning about five dresses to Silverburn.

Big tailwind to Bathgate this morning, and only a couple of showers. Big benefit not doing an 'out and back' route.

Four made it to the Tournament Cafe with Ken having left us at Gateside road. After scones and Empire biscuits headed back to Kilwinning and Blair Road and thanks to a diversion due to the roadworks, discoverd some new backroads with lovely new tarmac. Thanks to Boyd, Anthony and Carol for the company.

Doubt if I'll be out - got a couple of little visitors overnight. Hope the day goes well.

Great run today. Fast pace for a 30-Miler - my fastest average of the year by a long way (15.7 mph). Thanks for pulling me along.
BTW, should it not be the 'Silver Boys'?

Good run today - much drier than last Sunday. Thanks to Dave and Anthony for towing me round most of the way.

Thanks to Graham and Gerard for the company. A good run, in spite of the rain - glad we went out.

BoydJohnston got a reaction from Gerard Deeley in Commuting
Definitely mudguards. A rack and a rack bag are more comfortable than a backpack - no need for panniers unless you want to do your shopping on the way home. I had 32 sets of traffic lights on my commute into Glasgow - wish they had disc brakes available for road bikes back then, rims took a pasting. A good solid lock, preferably with a chain or cable to go through the front wheel as well, is a must unless you've got a secure lockup inside the building. Good tyres too - I used Conti GP 4 Season (and still do). Nothing worse than a puncture on a cold, dark, wet morning.

I don't record turbo rides on Strava . They're not real miles.

Thanks to Paul and Boyd for the company yesterday. Good to get out for a few hilly miles in dry weather.
Route as posted and no incidents except for Boyd failing miserably trying to shepherd four stray sheep back into their field above Kilmacolm .

Spin on, Dave. I'm loaded with the cold (but getting better), so would not have been out anyway.
Training for Majorca starts this coming week, though, so keep spinning. I'll be out on the road this week for sure.

Looks like another cold andfrosty morning forecast for this Sunday morning resulting in another indoor spin session. Does the frost and rain only appear on a Sunday recently, or
does it just seem like that. Happy New Year everyone.

BoydJohnston reacted to PaulL in Promotion of Runs
It would be great if we had a central place to post runs that all members have access too? Yes! It's called the Bunch Forums
People are on holidays, weather or insert lame excuse here Well, hallawrerr china! are main reasons why people can't make or don't show up on runs, Billy has done a great job of posting runs for a long time and sometimes it falls apart. Some of my suggestions below
1. Post runs to help Billy out, he does a great job(mostly)
2. Post if you are coming
3. If you post a run you should show up at very least
4. Don't counter post on a run because you want to do something else, PM the original poster if you want a change of route
5. Don't post if you are not coming because its wet, it makes you look weak
6. If you are part of one of the many JWCC Sunday splinter cells that's cool, But does it help build the club? this includes me
7. Cross posting on Strava, Facebook, Social Media etc. is great but the forum should be the original source of Club Rides as that's were we direct all members new and old
Again first world problems, post and ride

Time to think about new cables too. Have a look inside the shifters for any signs of fraying and check the outers for cracks or corrosion.

I'll be going out if the weather is not too bad, Dave. I'll be at Miller St for 9:30 as long as the weather is not too bad.
