    Usual time and place!
It shouldn't need saying but remember that in a chain gang you are supposed to ride through and off....not through and continue to accelerate as you join the other side. By all means attack if you want however try and not surge through if you are only doing your turn in the rotation.
Of course all of this may be inevitable due to it being big group with lots of recovery and then a tendency to come through too hard as a result.  The solution may be splitting into smaller groups but i'll leave that option for now.

I'm up for this, as long as the weather is decent.  If it's a REALLY nice day, I'd like to suggest Three Ferries.  Cycle to Rothesay for 8am ferry, go round Bute, over to Colintraive, then Loch Tarsan to Dunoon.  Ferry back to Gourock and home via West Ferry or the Clune...  circa 100 miles.

Jets had a blast this morning. Thanks to all in the 9.00 bunch for making them so welcome despite their tender years aka making sure they did their fair share of work :-)

Good to be out on a very cold and windy morning. Tough into the wind but it kept the group together. Decided   to sit up on the Cloch drag and ride back up Spango via Loch Thom and Amaretto with Colin. I was ok until the the cross tail but the increase in pace was just a bit too much.

That was some shift from Red Smiddy to Gourock into a 'testing' headwind. When we turned onto the cross tailwind the pace ramped up. Bunch blew apart on Cloch drag leaving about 7 for the Inverkip drag. Exiting Wemyss Bay, the bunch fractured again. I soloed to Largs for a lengthy BB stop with Alan, then Billy then many other JWCC arrived. Excellent wee run back over Heely. 2 days of tank emptied this weekend - I'm sure it will be worth it at some point!

By the time we got a tailwind the legs were too shredded to enjoy it ! All that and still only 75 % of the strava 500 !

Great bunch today!  We met Andy at the bottom of the Bowfield and up we headed towards Lugton at a nice pace, even up the hill!  I was wary incase anyone was getting dropped on the Bowfield but we al stayed together really well!  Little did I know we were already on the receiving end of a nice wee tailwind which as you'd expect turned into a ridiculous, cold-cutting-right-through-you headwind when we turned at Torranyard.
We came out at Cunninghamhead and headed towards Stewarton, before a slight diversion from the planned route to quieter roads, ending at the A77 side of the Clunch Road.  We headed up towards the wind farm into that horrible headwind, and I think it's safe to say we were all very glad the wind farm's visitor centre was open for business (but only one roll left - well done Glen getting in early!)
After the cafe stop, we descended into Eaglesham before heading along the Humble Road to Newton Mearns and onto Barrhead where most of us split.  James and I headed up Lochlibo Road passed the Dalek Brae to climb the Fereneze Road, dropping back down into Johnstone via Auchenlodment.
Great morning, slightly shorter route than planned, but plenty climbing!   Feeling it in the legs already lol

Elaine's great write up of 2018 adventures got me thinking about 2019 and time to start planning. And I actually thought about something other than the mythical DA.
So, the Amstel Gold Sportive is the day before the Pro race and is on Saturday 20th April. Various distances but I was thinking of the 240km route with 30 or so of the short and sharp listed climbs. And of course finishing up the very famous Cauberg, the scene of Philippe Gilberts finest moment.
I was thinking of something along the lines of getting there by Friday pm latest or maybe Thursday to ensure time to reassemble and ride bike before Saturday, arriving in Lille at 9pm the night before Paris Roubaix this year when we had to assemble bikes and leave by 4am was just a wee bit tight !
Pro Race Sunday, return Monday or Sunday night.
Anyone else up for this trip ?

Colin McPhee reacted to chung in Drum-up 2018 - Sunday 11th Nov (Possibly 18th)
Right then, just got latest intel from my sources (Agent Montague, AKA TT Fixed)
The date for the Drum-Up is
Sunday 11th NOVEMBER - time tbc
However, due to previous editions when weather wasn’t exactly ideal, therefore Geoff have proposed a final confirmation of the go ahead of this will be the Tuesday/Wednesday before the Sunday.
If indeed the forecast on the 11th is poor, then the following Sunday 18th will be the alternative, again confirmation on the Tuesday/Wednesday before also!
So, pencil these dates in & watch this space for if/when I have any updates!
    Thanks for reading
    Cheers

Yep, Kenny and Susan's wee Lusia has just taken a major step up. After a fantastic summer with 2 British Champs jerseys and PB's at the junior World Championships and Euro Championships she has been selected to the sprint squad at senior academy.
The Jets will miss her coaching skills at Linwood and Miller Street mind.
Huge congratulations to all in team Steele.

Usual time and place but a different route  due to the the A8 being down to one lane - https://www.strava.com/routes/15174783
To Bishopton as normal, left at the roundabout then towards Gleddoch and join the Clune half way up then ride as normal from there. No Clune points this week and try and keep it together going up the Gleddoch climb. It is about 5 miles from Gleddoch to the top of the Clune so if it splits there it will be a long wait for any riders that are dropped.  The descent towards Finlaystone has blind bends, gravel and sheep so take care there. Also watch out for the speedbumps after Finlaystone.
      Finish line points as normal.
