  1. Lovely run into Aberfoyle with a Bunch of 7, then Alex & I headed round Katrine as it was rude not to, given the scorching weather 🙂

Managed to visit 2 cafes that I've never been in before, the first being the "Go Ape" Adventure centre half way up the Duke's & the Wee Blether next to Loch Ard just before Aberfolye, both top recommendation from Alex ........ unfortunately for him though, not a Samsung mobile phone charger was to be found in each of these cafes (all i-Phone users) since Alex had forgotten to charge his phone for Strava before he came out 🙂 ......... he was convinced that everyone was out to piss him off  🙂

Anyway, it was a very long enjoyable day on the saddle & thanks to the Bunch earlier on & Alex for great company all day .......thankfully, I think his phone survived to record all his ride on Strava ........ otherwise it did not happen!

196km for me in the end, not quite the 200 I was hoping for, but I just ran out of road

P.S - Alan, lovely retro restoration & build on your Gazelle .......... especially the SWITCH to Campagnolo! Hello, beer!!

You seem to be a changed man since your retirement, one is never too late to walk down the righteous path of Cycling Component Enlightenment 🙂 ......... keep walking my brother!

    Cheers

    What are you thinking return route Chung;

Straight back via pipe track and Drymen?

Hi John, not sure yet, there's always the Crow which you "enjoyed" so much on your first ascent last year :-) ........ seriously though, we can decide on the day!

We'll be heading up the Pipe Track on the way out via Cycle Route 7 to Croftamie, so will see if we return the same way!

    Looking forward to it, chaps!

    Cheers

maybe an idea to have the clubrun over the Dukes this weekend too to cheer on Cedric who is doing the Sam Robinson? I'll post up a thread later when i find out the timings of that race.

Iain, won’t be out this Sunday as will be driving down South 😕

Have a good one if youse do!

    cheers

I'm interested in this Chung, what timings, etc. are involved?

Graham, I’ll post up in the “Club Run” section near the time, so watch out for it!

They depart George Square 11.15am, reckon around 1 hour to Dukes?

So, say 9am clubroom, 9.30am at the Bridge then a cycle up to Aberfoyle via the Pipe track, might even have time for a coffee before heading up the Dukes to wait for the Peleton 🙂

Like I said, confirm near the time, yes!

    Cheers

We still need a lot more volunteers to join the magnificent ones already in the mix.

Hi Gerard, how many helpers & marshals do you need in total?

The event is still 2 months away, so plenty of time to allow for late comers to help.

From my past experience, usually it'll all come good in the end & you'll get the numbers of helpers/marshals required near the date.

Also, ask Iain McTarvish to sound out the call on FB, Twitter etc ............ other Cycling Club's member (Couriers, Paisley Velo etc) have also helped out in the 2 events I organised.

It might be that if any Wheelers who want to ride will need to nominate a friend/family member to help out, should the worst come to it :-(

    Good luck

    Cheers

  6. Six of us made it out today optimistic that the weather will hold ....... & luckily it did :-)

Not quite the intended route, so no Pipe track or Aberfoyle, we did go over the Crow though, 2nd Sunday in a roll, doesn’t make it easier unfortunately!

New member - Daniel from Erskine joined us today & his first ride up the Crow ....... hope he enjoyed that :-)

Cafe stop in Clachan of Campsie again, then a pub stop in Bishopton after the Bridge for the Southsiders ......... no doubt well deserved :-)

Thanks for the wheels & company today, gents!

Will be missing next Sunday as I’ll be heading up to Stirling way!

    Cheers

  7. Iain,

Just wondering which direction you were thinking of once pass the Lake of Monteith, do you want to turn off the main road A81 on the first right heading towards Arnprior (this would not take us into Kippen, instead this would lead us straight up to the "Top of the World" junction) or do we stay on the main road, then turn onto the A873 till we get to Thornhill for that right turn towards Kippen, then to the TOTW? Either way, after that would take us down into Frintry & over the Crow.

My guess is that the second option would probably add an extra 10-15km ......... taking this "longer route" I reckon would be around 130-ish km (80-ish miles) clubroom to clubroom ......... but then again, I could be completely off :-0

I suppose we can fine tune that on the day ........ and plenty of options for cafe stops(s) ........ Drymen, Aberfoyle, Kippon, Fintry, Lennoxtown etc

As long as it's dry I'm no fuss where we go :-)

    Cheers

  8. 2 groups making it a bunch of 9 set off in search of the promised sun-shine & hills over the Northside!

Got the hills but the sun only came out after we got completely soaked from Strathblane & into Killearn ..... boo ......... thankfully dry by the time we got to Fintry & the Crow!

Lovely cafe at Clachan of Campsies, then a blast back to the Bridge!

First time over the Kyber & the Crow for some, hope it’s not the last :-)

Thanks for the wheels & company today people!

    Cheers

  9. Hi All,

Planning a run this Sunday, but not sure where to go as Glen requested something "hilly".

There'll be a few regular absentees since they're over in Spain the now ............ so not sure who's left to go out, but I'll be in the clubroom for a 9am start for whoever fancy it!

Will update a route later on ........ or if anyone have any suggestion, please feel free to post up, I'll go anywhere ....... even Largs :-)

    Cheers

Just wondering if anyone planned on riding this, and if so, might there be car space for a Weegie club-mate and bike? I don't have a.club skinsuit or BC membership, but I'll sort out the latter and chance the former if I know I can definitely get to Cambusbarron on the day. Ta.

    Text sent ;-)
