Quite rapid tonight. Went through a couple of times and nearly got a nose bleed. Sitting in is the new through and off

Heggie's was fine. A big improvement in the surface even though it's not finished yet.

Working and it looks a bit cold. Might bring my camera to kilmacolm cross to get some pain shots.

Due a busy UCI race schedule this year for me this will be my first chaingang... I expect the same amount of leniency shown to McCusker when he is having a bad day...

You’re going well Sir. Would have loved to have joined you but it would have been messy on the way home for me.

I am starting to think a bit more about times for organising myself for this, both driving down and getting to the start.  The drive down is about three and a half hours, but with whatever pick ups I am doing to collect everyone I am adding on an extra hour.  We surely want to have a relaxed evening beforehand, so shall we book a table somewhere for dinner?  Once that is agreed I can then let everyone know where and when we can get ourselves and our bikes loaded up.  I certainly have stuff to organise in the morning and I expect others will too so my expectation is to start out at about one o’clock, which should allow plenty of time.  On the morning we have a fifteen minute drive to the start, but I expect no matter what time we aim for parking will not be easy.  I am up for leaving Kettlewell at half seven and hopefully be riding around eight after signing on, a voice of experience will be helpful on this though.  As for returning back, I will let that resolve itself when it happens.  Please let me know what you expect and need so we can organise ourselves.

I friend of mine was the consultant who looked over this chap I think as he told me about it, I have mentioned to the bunch every time When crossing the bridge. The majority of these are patched up with visible small squares of tarmac however there are a few still there which may be new ones....please be aware are this look like small tarmac mushroom tops about 15cm in diameter and about 3inches high. Very dangerous!!

wow, sympathy to Colin and Gary.
Glen, If you think rim is simply worn out and you like Zuus then you might as well get another pair.
Rim brake wheels are essentially disposable items and will eventually need replaced, you certainly get good use of yours.
I'm very slowly moving all my bikes to disc brakes cos I can then buy really nice wheels and not worry about them wearing out.
I got my warning on Fairlie Moor too about 5 years ago when a worn alloy rim exploded, made me obsessively check for rim wear and bin when <1mm or wear markers gone.

    Cracking day out.
Set off from the club house at 7, dressed for the Sahara, more like siberia.
We set off and with our arms numbed by the cold met Paul in lochwinnoch, a pleasant ride to Inverkip where paul split off and it was off to Rothesay for Colin and I.
The sun was doing its thinng by then and we had a cracking run until Colintraive where we turned into the wind. A battle to Dunoon then a roll stop in Gourock. Up the Clune and onto Amaretto where we met Alan T for a recovery pint.
Great day out, sunburnt and sore.

Lovely day for an eventful ride to Largs. I think we had 4 punctures, followed by Glen’s carbon rim failing on the Fairlie Moor road. This could have been very serious but thankfully no-one was hurt. If riding carbon rims with rim brakes do check them for wear from time to time. I suppose you can’t always tell but seeing the mess of his wheel and reflecting on how serious it could have been, it is better to err on the side of caution.
This would normally have been enough to warrant calling the ride ‘eventful’ but there was another more serious event.  Colin and  Gary Dunn came down on the main road to Largs. Colin was bloodied but able to continue. Gary was not so ‘lucky’ and could not ride due to a suspected broken collar bone and had to ‘call a friend’.
I’ll post an update on Gary when I hear anything.
    Happy Easter folks!

Garry has damaged shoulder ligaments but nothing broken. Bike ok, more importantly.
