Richie Cross
I'll come along and see how it goes. With my Games shifts I won't have turned a pedal in 3 weeks! Â Cheers
Life Members chung Posted July 22, 2014 Life Members Report Share Posted July 22, 2014 Charlie,  We can avoid the Glen Fruinn descend if we choose to turn right onto the short single track road (just before the climb) which will bring you out onto the main "Military Road" (I think its the A817) then turn left for a quick descend into the Garelochead round-about.  Can I assume a Cafe stop at Balloch? :-)  Cheers  Chung
Mark O
I'm in. Can I beg a 09.00 start from the clubrooms? I'll pedal faster at the front to make up the time if necessary.
2023 Subscriptions charlie p Posted July 22, 2014 Author 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted July 22, 2014 Chung Was thinking of having an americano and cone in Luss but Balloch may b a better option. Ta for alternative route but do not want to deprive the guys of the joy of climbing to the top

Committee Alan McLean Posted July 25, 2014 Committee Report Share Posted July 25, 2014 posh coffee at cameron house hotel beach cafe with verandah and views of your yacht.  Cannot work out route, does it climb glen fruin from west or east? The simplest route is a clockwise circle turning right up g fruin at faslane but it is another big loop north to get over g douglas and back to loch lomond. or maybe I am just complicating things  I should add that I may not be there.  Alan
2023 Subscriptions charlie p Posted July 26, 2014 Author 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted July 26, 2014 Alan Up Sinclair st on to Luss road turn left in to glenFruin follow rd down to Gareloch then proceed along A814 beside loch long then turn right on to Tulloch rd ( glen Douglas) takes u to Inverbeg then a "Some like it hot"moment at Luss bay. So to answer your question going east to west on Glen Fruin

2023 Subscriptions charlie p Posted July 27, 2014 Author 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted July 27, 2014 Great ride today The weather gods brought a bit of rain but not enough to dampen our spirits. Ritchie and Allan headed home after glen fruit and the rest of us headed to glen Douglas which welcomes u with a very steep start. Pleased to report no I accidents and no mechanicals. The cafe in Balloch is a little cracker. Special mention to Emma who just gets stronger every week.

Mark O
Couldn't agree more M'Lud. Some cracking climbs today. Chapeau to Miss Emma who is a shining example of how to step up to the main bunch. Certainly going well.
Richie Cross
Hard day for me today. No pedalling for 3 weeks meant my legs burst after 45 miles. Thankfully Allan was heading home so I had company as far as the bridge. Our pace wasn't too bad on the way back. Lots of headwind from the bridge. Hopefully better next Sun. Otherwise good company as always
