My only concern with the gutter type rack was clamping on to a carbon tube - I'm sure it would be fine and I cut up bits of old carpet for the bikes on my roof to place between the tubes and clamps. Having said all that - £19 for peace of mind seems like a good deal. Let me know by Tuesday if you want me to order one for you too - save a few quid on postage.
