2023 Subscriptions Codg1e Posted April 12, 2019 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted April 12, 2019 I'm up for this, as long as the weather is decent. If it's a REALLY nice day, I'd like to suggest Three Ferries. Cycle to Rothesay for 8am ferry, go round Bute, over to Colintraive, then Loch Tarsan to Dunoon. Ferry back to Gourock and home via West Ferry or the Clune... circa 100 miles. Colin McPhee and stuart10ant

Cool! Depends what ferry you want to catch. We should leave Johnstone 2hrs before. What about the 9am ferry? We'd likely be back in Johnstone 3-4pm stuart10ant

2023 Subscriptions Codg1e Posted April 19, 2019 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted April 19, 2019 Yeah. Think it's £15/16 for a hopscotch ticket, plus a fiver for the western ferries at Dunoon. Cafe at Dunoon if waiting for ferry or bluebird cafe Gourock if desired.
2023 Subscriptions thejanullrichdietplan Posted April 19, 2019 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted April 19, 2019 Last time i rode this route it was under £10 in total for the 3 ferries as a passenger with bike. Single to rothesay was under 5, single to colintraive about 1.20 then if you go into the newsagent just before you take the left hand turn to go past the holy loch you can get a cheap western ticket there - a return there it is cheaper than a single when buying on the ferry. They will let you split the ticket too so only 1 needed. Ian Archibald and Codg1e

Will likely turn off at Spango up Loch Thom then Fairlie Moor if anyone else up for an early morning run. Coffee stop optional. 2023 Subscriptions stuart10ant Posted April 22, 2019 Author 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted April 22, 2019 Cracking day out. Set off from the club house at 7, dressed for the Sahara, more like siberia. We set off and with our arms numbed by the cold met Paul in lochwinnoch, a pleasant ride to Inverkip where paul split off and it was off to Rothesay for Colin and I. The sun was doing its thinng by then and we had a cracking run until Colintraive where we turned into the wind. A battle to Dunoon then a roll stop in Gourock. Up the Clune and onto Amaretto where we met Alan T for a recovery pint. Great day out, sunburnt and sore. 2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted April 22, 2019 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted April 22, 2019 Excellent stuff, good to join you as far as Spango Valley. At one extreme we had you guys with bare arms, legs and track mitts. At the other extreme we had me in full winter gloves, tights and windproof jacket ( in my defence I took daughter to airport at 5.45 and registered 3c at Lochwinnoch roundabout ! ). It was all good for me until about Largs when I turned into a microwave boil in the bag meal ! Great picture story Stuart Codg1e and stuart10ant
2023 Subscriptions Codg1e Posted April 22, 2019 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted April 22, 2019 My Garmin registered 1c between BoW & Kilmacolm. No wonder we couldn't feel our hands and arms Then, it registered 29c at Gourock as we got off the ferry, though this is probably because it was sheltered on the ferry with the sun shining directly on it. It soon changed down to 25/24c but it was pleasant enough. Shame about the wind it was horrible on the way back. All in all a great day out. I couldn't muster an extra 6/7 miles to make up the century - Stuart did tho! Kudos! stuart10ant
