  1. Had my first go on Zwift today. Ended up doing two races.

first race: despite selecting what I thought was an easier level everyone stormed off into the distance-I did 340w for first 2 mins and was still left for dead. Then got into a duel with a Canadian ā€œdudeā€ eventually dropped him and rolled in.

10 min rest and into next race: this was better. Got into a group that rode at a good power level for me & as race wore on I got confident enough to push on to catch other groups and move throughĀ them. Good fun but I was blowing a bit towards the end.

as my group got to the last 200 metres everyone shot past me. Very realistic....

What happened after about 50 mins in? My set up went a little awry. The bunch and all other avatars disappeared and I ended up riding completely solo and then found myself on the volcano circuit.Ā

No matter, a good work out for an hour. Apologies for the lack of chat and ride ons - struggling to read the screen on the phone. Middle aged takes no prisoners alas.

    Darryl,

I was treated to a tacx neoĀ T2. If yourĀ budget could be stretched Iā€™d certainly recommend it. As to general set up, Apple TV,Ā a smart TV and an Alexa microdot for music is what weā€™ve done. Hopefully a pic below.

As for Zwift in itself, we have 2 bikesĀ set up one for Zwift and one on a non-smart trainer (tacx flow). When we do joint sessions, Heather reports that just having the Zwift landscape on the screen does make an hourā€™s session go by quickly. Personally I do like Zwift -miles better than staring at a garage wall.Ā
SomeoneĀ mentioned having 2 riders on a single screen. Potentially, I say potentially because I havenā€™t attempted this, you could with a smart tv run one account via Apple TV and a second via a laptop and split the screen with the laptop screen reflected to the TV. Heather uses this general approach when running webinars and wants illustrate something on her laptop mid broadcast. Admittedly it did take a bit of tech know how input from Apple.Ā
Iā€™m going to look out for future rides Iain organises and join in.Ā
In the meantime, everyone out there stay safe and healthy.Ā

Restricted gear isn't until 8th March. This week was supposed to have been the Don Smith, but since no one put their hand up to organise it, it's not going to happen this year.

There is a proposal to use the routes this weekend anyway, but I guess that's going to depend on numbers and weather. Again.

I see! Will be at club rooms for 09:30 then. Don Smith route fine by me šŸ‘
