    Good Morning,

Been cycling in and around Paisley area on my own for a while and starting to get a little bit bored so looking to perhaps come along to give club a try out. I'll never be the fittest person in the world as I enjoy beer and junk food to much .

Also a tad nervous about group cycling although I have done it in the past but not sure about club etiquette etc.
Any will keep an eye out on the thirty mile section Sunday runs and Wednesday might social runs.

Cheers and hope to see you soon.

Those of you who read the comic will have come across features they do on clubs the length and breadth of the country.

I think ours has a story to tell so have been badgering/trolling the editor to do a feature on us.

He has got in touch & promised a visit to do a ride and a feature on us in the next 2-3 months.

I'll let you know the date once it's confirmed.

Good day out. A little bit cool at the start, but it soon warmed up. Ran 65:13, over 3 minutes faster than last year. Cramped up at 14 and 17 miles, which probably cost me the sub 65, but otherwise much happier with that.

The forecast of a light wind and no rain turned out to be a lie. The rain was light, and passed over quite quickly, once the wind got up. About 15 minutes before I went off a stiff breeze sprang up, and was right there in my face for 13 miles. Got to the turn in about 40 minutes, gubbed, then got back in 28, still gubbed.
68:17 for today's effort, 1:19 faster than last year.
It's good to get the first 25 of the year done.

For years I held some utterly obscure running KOMs around here. Unlike cycling there is far less assistance from wind and bunches, so really niche routes can remain untouched for ages. Amongst punters like me any gains are usually measured in a few secs/km at most.

However over the winter someone hoovered up my KOMs by >1 min/km. They were moving at 3min/kms on the track between here and Paisley, ie 20 km/h. I assumed it was a fat bloke on an ebike having a laugh.

Actually it was the amazing Callum Hawkins, selected for British Olympic marathon team, and his brother Derek who hopes to be selected tomorrow. These guys are from Kilbarchan and are among the best runners in the world.

On one hand It is great to have locals running in the big event but from my Strava running career POV it is a disaster comparable to Wiggins and Froome putting down their markers without the chance of me ever getting them back!

sample Olympic training run here, I like the way he eased off in the last 9k.

I have mentioned it to a few Wheelers while out on runs and there is alot of interest in coming along. Everyone is more than welcome to join us! 30 milers/Medium/Bunch as there are different routes we can take(but all would include at least one ascent of Bealach na Bà) The climb is 9.1km Avg Grade 7% Elvation 626m.It is a stunning climb and a beautiful part of the world, a must ride before your time on this rock is complete.

Dry, cold, a very light northerly which always seemed to be in front. Arguably my worst performance of the season so far, with a 39:52, however, it's still a PB, if only because it was my first 15. Hard going this morning.

I live in Bridge Of Weir.

I used to participate in Triathlons, but I had to give that up about 8 - 10 years ago due to Knee Injuries,  in my early 50's now.
The only cycling I have done in 10 years has been in the gym, spinning etc.
I have just ordered a new road Bike and aim to get back into cycling, my aim is to compete again.

I'll be looking to cycle with the 30 milers eventually, I need to build up my fitness for cycling outside first.
I have never cycled in a group so will need some advice on that, I used to train on my own, and In Tri's you never really get bunched up, once out the pool.

With regard to licences I see the provisional licence comes free with Silver and Bronze membership of UK cycling, would that be sufficient for the start ? Any advice on pure Cycling training etc welcome.

Any training routes you use would also be welcome.
