I've been watching the weather for this one all week - but it's looking good now so I plan to be there, 09:00 at the Club Rooms.

Between travelling and family commitments I've not been out much on a Sunday recently, but hope to get out once or twice before the end of April. It would've good if there's enough intermediates to make a group at least some of the time!

I'll come along and help, both with the event and at Bernie's afterwards.  

Alan, Jess gave her surname as Mitchell.  I think Alex is having a bad day for names - I'm sure Karen wasn't there but Jane took care to write down the full names of all the participants, I just abbreviated them for the results post.

It turned out to be better weather than forecast with the rain holding off until after the event.

We found a Mini-Pump on the verge after the event tonight, any claims in writing please!

Jane and I will come along to timekeep and holdup for this one, so no excuses for anyone else not to ride it.

A great event, thanks to the helpers for making it possible, and particularly to Alan T. for arranging such good weather!

I plan on riding this, but will help if there's not enough others doing that role.

If you get one I'll be interested to see how you get on with it, I've looked at this type of bag and dismissed them as being expensive and difficult to access for a limited amount of space mounted high on the bike.  They are trendy but I don't think they have much to offer over a traditional large saddlebag.

My last years light touring set up had a bit more space and flexibility for getting at things en-route, but is means more weight.  I will no doubt review it for the coming season.

For comparison this is the fully loaded self sufficient touring kit with a tent on the top of the rear rack!

Well done on this Alan, I suggest dropping the 3rd practice 2 up on the 15th Aug. as: the practices have historically had a low turnout,two practices should be enough and it will be a minimum of disruption to the rest of the programme.

I'll not be out this week, but have fun!

Forecast not looking to bad at the moment so I plan on being there.

I can help on Sunday, between about 9 and 2:30, looks like it may be a bit frosty so it would be good to be doing something indoors.

The frost is due to have gone by Sunday so I am thinking of getting out for a few hills.

No it didn't Alan, I went along in case anyone turned up, but no competitors turned up so I ended up going on a tour of Inverclyde instead.

I'll keep this route for a larger group, so will do my own thing and hope to meet up with the 30 milers at Lochwinnoch.

Hi Alan, it's about 55 miles round trip from the bridge, and there's at least two good cafe stops en route!

If I met you at the bridge it would save the few miles it would take to go to the club room.

I'm thinking of going north this week, but happy to listen to other options.

Anyone want to come out on an intermediate run, 09:00 at the club room or 9:30 at the south side of the Erskine Bridge.  Post if you plan on joining, if nobody posts their coming I'll do my own thing.

I'm pretty new to the club and was hoping to join the bunch tomorrow. Would the above ride suit or should I go to the club house for 9am?

Hi Ali,

I don't want to hijack Karen's thread, but there may not be anyone else at the club rooms at 9am as many of the members are going to the Drum-Up at Loch Eck. If you don't feel Karen's run is right for you you would be welcome on the 10:00 Western Ferry to the Drum-Up, it looks like there will be at least 3 groups leaving the ferry at differing paces so you could decide on the ferry which is right for you! Is it only the 0930h ferry or is there another group taking the 1000h ferry with the rest of the cyclists?

I plan on going, but no earlier than the 10:00 ferry, I see missing the football as an extra reason for going!

I'm thinking of cycling to the ferry, and perhaps include the Ardentiny loop as I've yet to do it.

Could meet at the bus stop just beyond the Newark Roundabout in PG at 09:15 and go on from there?

It was 83 miles and 5,700 feet for me, my longest day for a while.

I'm planning to be along for this.

Looking at the ferry times with a following wind we might make the 10:30 from McInroy's Point, or more likely the 10:50, but either way it should be a good day out.

If we've still got some energy after Loch Tarzan and Loch Striven we could pop over C11 to Otter Ferry for lunch, I reckon that would add 16 miles and 2320 ft to a run that would otherwise be 37 miles and 1870 ft return to Port Glasgow.  We can see what our legs and the weather are telling us on the day!
