Committee Alan McLean Posted February 28, 2017 Committee Report Share Posted February 28, 2017 Hi all , many of you know about this. Massive kudos to Paul Mcdonald for organising. https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/158496/Don-Smith-Memorial-Ride-2017 The middle route would be great for new or prospective members and we are particularly keen to attract the newer road cyclist who wants to do more bunch/club riding. http://www.mapmyride.com/gb/lochwinnoch-sct/jwcc-don-smith-45mile-ride-2012-route-72414462. New or prospective members are welcome to post here or contact me through [email protected] for details about what to expect. So the middle group will be captained by experienced club members and we will do our best to get everyone round. Total riding time will be around 3-3.5 hours but if you can ride for two hours and eat and drink on the move then you should be ok. Experienced club members who don't fancy the big route are welcome to join for a steady ride, regroup after hills and stopping for mechanicals etc. Only 45 miles but you can easily double this if you ride to/from the HQ. 2023 Subscriptions AlanT Posted March 4, 2017 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted March 4, 2017 Thinking of joining the intermediate group. Looking to confirm details of start and entry? Chris, start is at 10, but you'll need some time to register, so if you're at the lochwinnoch gym/ social club for about 09:30, you won't go wrong. Committee Alan McLean Posted March 5, 2017 Author Committee Report Share Posted March 5, 2017 Splendid run for the middle group. By common consent a bunch of us stuck it to the Man and stopped at the Bagel Basket. Here I am shown demonstrating their world famous Bagel Stack. Life expectancy : 5 mins. One broken chain on the Haylie was quickly fixed and we enjoyed classic views of snowy Arran. It looked so close you could cycle around it a couple times easily. chung, Richie Cross, San Miguel Injury and 2 others
Kaz H
Good run and ended up a cracking day for a cycle. Thanks to Alan and Ramsay for fixing my broken chain and contrary to belief I was actually sitting on the saddle spinning a low gear when my chain broke as standing on the pedals whilst changing gear would be a schoolboy error Gerard Deeley, San Miguel Injury and Ramsay

2023 Subscriptions AlanT Posted March 5, 2017 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted March 5, 2017 Really good day out. Thanks to Paul for organising and Alan Maclean doing a sterling job of keeping the bunch together until Largs. A few of us headed up the haylie without stopping at the bagel basket and we had a nice little through and off going until Kilbirnie. Committee Alan McLean Posted March 5, 2017 Author Committee Report Share Posted March 5, 2017 Hi, we may have lost a couple early on, apologies to anyone who was dropped dearly. If you were a dropee then please contact me on [email protected] if you would like to know more about suitable runs and joining. Not including Bill who graciously allowed us to pass by, probably before phoning for his personal Bentley retrieval. chung
